^No penalties for any of the incidents.

Excellent race from Lotus, Kimi pushing Vettel hard was great to see, and amazing job from Di Resta to get 6th after the team skipped second practice. It was also good to see Massa keeping up with Alonso this time. That makes 4 winners from 4 different teams and our 4th different championship leader in as many races (to keep the theme going, thats four 4ths for Mark Webber now). Talk about a crazy championship. I watched the BBC's highlights and they are useless, the miss so much out. I didn't see Grosjean's pass on Webber, or Kimi's on Alonso and it was difficult to follow the pitstop strategies from 5th down, something I've never had trouble with, even in the "confusing" races early last year.

3 weeks until Barcelona, with the 4 day test at Mugello in Italy inbetween. This is where we'll see the major updates from all of the teams, and whether Ferrari can get more pace out of their car.

Wow, congrats to Lotus.
Story of the race certainly, and this year gets nuttier still.
4 winners from 4 constructors as well. Total madness.

Cool to see Schumi grab a point from 22nd place.

Edit: Ya know Webber may not be in a bad spot. If this up and down season continues...and he keeps finishing 4th he may end up winning the title through consistencyLOL

Somehow Vettel is leading the championship.  Hmm.  Hopefully it won't last.

Yeah, I saw half of the highlights earlier.  No penalties indeed.  Alonso was not best pleased with Rosberg.

The 2 stop did work for Di Resta but his tires were degrading at the end so he was lucky Alonso didn't take 6th.  Button's unfortunate broken exhaust saved him a position too.

Odd how both Button and Rosberg had broken exhausts though.  Was that due to the heat?

And yeah, I listened to the race on the radio (but kept falling asleep) and from what I saw of the highlights, they did miss a lot out.  Was the race really that boring?

Somehow?
Man you're hate has blinded you, pretty easy to see why...he's done the best thus farLOL
Well...Webber has had a better start in terms of consistency but Vettel has a win and podium.

Eventually things will have to start settling.
Or not. 10 race winners this year???

I can see what James means on this one. Its the first time since Australia that Vettel has outperformed Webber and over the four races McLaren has had the best car on balance. Either way its damned close with Alonso only 10 point soff the lead in that dog of a car.

Indeed, but you recall me griping about the more podium and win skewed points system...this is whyLOL
You're right he's not been the best overall thus far but that's how the points work now. Not really griping just it is what it is.

At least things have been more balanced...with lots of people winning it's exciting, if not we get a 2011 where 300 point leads can be easily racked up!

I just hope he doesn't win it by 1 point and only win the one race all season.  That's unlikely to happen though.  He deserved it last year.

Updates coming for Barcelona, as Andy says, so it'll be interesting to see how things are.

I know Ricciardo got hit by Kovaleinen at the start and that's how he ended up so far back but he must have had an awful start to hit him in the first place as he started in 6th.  I didn't see any other incident before that.

Grosjean is damned good by the way.  I know he's in a pretty good car but he's competitive in it.  He'll get other podium places this season.

Ricciardo hit Kovalainen you mean. Considering he started 6th, that was a terrible start, even by the standards of everybody else that started on the dirty side of the track. The overhead shot of the replay was interesting, everybody that started on the left rocketed away whilst everybody on the right lost places, except for Massa who was off like a shot.

Yeah, my apologies, he did indeed hit Kovalainen.  It was difficult to see how the back markers started.

That track was indeed quite dusty.

Spain this weekend. We had the test at Mugello last week, and though most drivers loved the circuite, everybody was in agreement that it was largely a complete waste of time sinc eit has little in common with most F1 tracks, being more in the Spa vein rather than Tilke dromes. First Practice times:

Pos Driver Team Time Laps

Finally!
These gaps kill me every time.

Really not a fan of this track (nor do I think any country needs 2Angry) but everything is better with the DRS and KERS.
Still it's F1 time :D

I don't look too much into practice already, and you say this one was pretty much a waste sooLOL
Is this the race with the new Ferrari?

Pretty dull track, and from next year on Spain will only have one race as Barcelona and Valencia will alternate.

The test last week was a waste of time, practice is usually just for finalising set ups. Mark Webber has suggested that a lot of the top drivers will sit out tomorrows FP3 to save tyres for the race, but here's the FP2 times.

Pos Driver Team Time Laps
 1. Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 1m23.399 38
 2. Sebastian Vettel Red Bull-Renault 1m23.563s + 0.164 38
 3. Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1m23.771s + 0.372 41
 4. Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1m23.909s + 0.510 32
 5. Kimi Raikkonen Lotus-Renault 1m23.918s + 0.519 32
 6. Romain Grosjean Lotus-Renault 1m23.964s + 0.565 37

VERY dull track, and that's good to know. Though shame they will still go here at all lol

Was this when you said the new Ferrari is debuting?
Will be nice to see a, hopefully, improved Ferrari. Even though James will come up with another 12 coo coo reasons for why it is cheating and evil :P

They've brought a number of new parts but the massive redesign that was expected hasn't happened. They'll be closer than they were but don't expect them to be front runners again. I was reading this weeks Autosport, they're suggesting that it might actually take a couple of years for Ferrari to ge tback to being the pace setters since they're some way behind the likes of Lotus, McLaren and Red Bull when it comes to simulation technology and it can take a while to sort out those kind of facilities.

Oh dear...yeah I'm not expecting much then, except for rain races and maybe the street circuits.
A few years eh? Goodness. Crazy how fast you can fall off the pace...not too long ago Ferrari and Fernando were a stones throw away from a championship.

Major development, Hamilton has been striped of pole. The rules state that a car must have a sufficent amount of fule on board to complete the in lap and provide a sample for inspection, but apparently the guy fueling up his car was accidently pressing the 'drain' lever for a few second before realising his mistake and switching to 'pump' but the car was underfuled. A silly mistake which means Hamilton will start last and Maldonado will start from his first ever pole position (and has said that he's targeting the win to boot now) with Alonso second and an all Lotus second row. It's a shame because Hamilton looked to be miles ahead of everybody today but I guess he'll provide an interesting race now.

I've got a good feeling that we'll see Raikkonen on the top step tomorrow.

Good news slightly. I like Valencia a good bit, so I wish it was the only one...but if it means less Barcelona all the better.

So where is the Europe gp going to be held now?

Probably wont be one, they'll just keep it to Spain, Monaco, Britain, France/Belgium (set to alternate), Germany, Hungary and Italy in Europe for the future I think.
