Yes, "new" EST is same "Leucocyte" sessions outtakes . For me their last album is their most serious and ambitious work, but "301" demonstrates well how good these Australian sessions selection completing "Leucocyte" was done. "301" still contains some nice tunes and few good if unfinished compositions, but it's obviously collection of outtakes. Probably better decision would be just to release "Complete Leucocyte Sessions" in old-fashion jazz releases style

From new - at least for me: got some Das Kapital promo materials. Danish-German-French neo-fusion trio, they are coming to play in Vilnius next week (they already played last year in Vilnius Jazz), sounds interesting:

New Corea-Burton's album for me was quite a disappointment - out of time slightly melancholic music, Corea usually do it much better

John Mayall (and Peter Green) are absolute British blues giants - with time I like them both more and more (especially early albums)

Hi all

Apologies about the delay in posting this week's playlist - got carried away with Chelsea beating perhaps the best football team in the world  last night ('soccer' to the uninitiated). So this week, to keep the boys  doing that oddly odd show before mine happy some metal jazz/fusion. Rumour has it the new Wayne Krantz is on it way to me - but not yet - as is the new Ohmprey album (maybe next week sample from both). However, good listener feedback for both the Red Devils (with the sadly under-recorded Lester Butler) and TRAM (metal musician play some interesting, if somewhat heavy jazz fusion). New to me but been around for some time: Paul Brett Sage from the early 70's. Spot the 'Stan The Man' section of the show and it ain't just Brad Mehldau's track............ And long ones from the second Chicago album and the new album by neo-proggers RPWL

Two or three first Chicago albums were all great, but than their success made them cheesy pop-band very soon

Smack on - the rot was showing in this second album (with a few cheesy ones). (Seraphin's drumming was special too). I think one issue was that they were playing the popular stuff on the road heard on CTA and Chicago back in 1968, before recording the albums - so had they become tired of playing the good material whilst looking for a bigger AOR audience?

THEW

Nearly forgot to post this, having put things to bed last Sunday afternoon - with continuous rain keeping me from attacking the garden.  However....

At last got myself a recording of  the other other Ian Anderson, who appeared in Britain about the same time as the Tull-man, also singing the blues (delta more than blues rock) but nowadays better know as an editor of a UK folk magazine. Interesting fusion from a couple of Japanese bands - East Wind (despite one reviewer drawing parallels with Weather Report and RTF) reminds me of 70's European jazz fusion and we feature a track that starts with a major lift from Soft Machine - then there is Fazjaz.JP definitely the stronger musically of the two, here doing some pretty interesting takes on jazz standards. Something from the new and heavily critically acclaimed Jack White album, Blunderbuss - but I failing to be impressed so what am I missing? We end the show with three contributions from Don Galluccci - creator of that familiar keyboard riff by the Kingsmen on Louis Louis, much praised producer of the second The Stooges' album and arguably one of the central figures inventing early American prog in the form of Touch (60's garage, proto-punk and prog....)
