Topic: Ministry of Polling Posted: March 30 2012 at 21:13 |
I'm seeing the banner ads appear on this site for the new Ministry album Relapse. Not really prog at all, so I'm sure this poll question will have limited interest, but here goes anyway...
For anyone who loved this band at any time, what was your favorite period of the band's development? Their earliest stuff was synth-pop (With Sympathy), but quickly mutated into "industrial" (Twitch), and finally "metal" (everything since). I was totally digging their stuff in the late 80s/early 90's, but a series of mediocre releases afterwards deflated that interest. I think the Bush Jr years brought out the fury in Al Jourgensen and they had a slight "return-to-form" with the music from those years.
Now Jourgensen has brought back Ministry from a 5 year retirement, but I don't think I'm so excited anymore. I wish the band's music continued to "mutate" like in those early years. This new stuff sounds like re-hashing.
Anyone else?

I haven't given their career a good listen, but I always have Psalm 69 in my car in case I wanna go out on a joyride somewhere.

I should try to listen to their stuff post-Psalm 69: I only listened to Animowhateveritmeans, which I thought as "OK" more than "YEAH!". Yet, I'm not sure that their "Bust trilogy" is great: I remember having seen a video for some track from "Houses of the Molé", and I mistook them for some generic thrash-metal band...
