Pierre, that Gino D'Eliso album is really a great one.

Thanks, Todd. I just know this one and his third album : Santi ed eroi (very bad but in CD).
Maybe his second :  Tri Ricordi Vienna ? (1977) is better ?

Hard not to think of Lucio Battisti's Il nostro Caro Angelo while listening to this 1975 album. Almost same atmosphere and cover art work. Very good indeed.

RICCARDO FOGLI : MATTEO ( 1978)
A very good album, by the bass player of I Pooh. Some kind of commercial prog album, close to the first La Bottga Dell'Arte. The 1999 CD is very hard to find.

Sad news. Lucio Dalla died today during his last european tour. I'll miss his incredible and moving voice

I'm currently on an Italian fusion binge just finishing Agora's Agora 2 now. Been listening to Etna, Dedalus and Napoli Centrale before.
I just love the melodic approach the Italian bands wield their fusion with. A lot of sauce to the chops - keeping things nice and juicyBig smile
My fave out of the aforementioned is probably Dedalus. Man that is a terrific album!

Enjoy, David! Some wonderful bands you mentioned.

Don't forget Arti e Mestieri (especially their first two), Duello Madre, and Perigeo, too.  Also, Free Wave System, Nova, Il Baricentro, Bella Band, and Venegoni and Co are very good.

My favorites of the modern Italian JRF are Deus ex Machina (wow!), DFA, and Accordo dei Contrari.

I'll be sure to check those out Todd - thanks man! I do have the first two Arti e Mestieri and a couple of Perigeo's, but the rest of those you mention are definitely going on the list. Seem to remember getting all wound up about getting that Duello Madre one a couple of years back, but I must've forgot somehow...

I love the new ones too - especially Deus ex Machina and DFA. Yummy.

I personally love Duello Madre (especially the bass--Bob Callero from Osage Tribe and later with Il Volo). Plus the album cover art is absolutely classic! But some don't enjoy it as much as I do. There is a sample on Mat's site www.italianprogrock.com

Listening right nowBig smile

Wow those drums are really hitting a nerve with me. I'm a sucker for those rolls - and to top it off the rest of the band plays like they've just spend a week in the swamps of Louisiana. Funky stuff.
Hey - what's this? Italian acoustic instrumentation in the midst of things? Yep - this is definitely going on my to-get-list.

Thanks again Todd.

I have some of those you mentioned and totally loved them.I will check the others soon, especially Duello Madre since it was the RPI's way of drumming (besides its flute) that brought me to this music at the first place.
I think those bands almost cover the whole JRF from Italian guys.Thank you.
