if you take a trip to Minnesota or Wisconsin you will get served it through all winter/christmas season it is a very common dish in those states since a large %edge are Nordic dependence and eats Lutefisk in abundance during christmas, they even have large festivals eating Lutefisk, Lefse and Gammelost

Extreme Disappointment is a concept album about how bad of an album Extreme Disappointment is. Despite this, it is one of my all time favorite albums. Not really prog though. Just rock/industrial stuff with a really creative edge that kind of bends your mind sideways as you listen to it.

Lutefisk is cod-fish that are first gone through a aged stockfish (air-dried whitefish) or dried/salted whitefish (klippfisk) and lye (lut). it is a prosess which have been done in Norway since 18th century or even earlyer, stockfish and dried whitefish have been done in 3000 years, or even longer, the origin of Lutefisk is unknown.

si Lutefisk = a cod fish dish variant

it is very easy to make at home

400 g Lutefisk

4-5 potatos

30g bacon

1/4 melted butter

half a portion of Pee puree

Lutefisk in the oven for 40-50 min on 225 degree C in the owen (cover it with Aluminium foil, but the foil must not be near the fish or it will taste funny)

boil potatos til theyr done, make a large portion of pee puree,steem some bacon with butter, (you can skip the melted butter an have only bacon yummy)

my only warning to you is that it can sound scarey to eat Lye marinade Cod, but don't be afraid you can buy it in the grossary store prepared as it should, it is like chemistry and gastronomy have a marriage at you dinner table

Lutefisk is an odd bird of a fish. It's typically made from dried white fish and is produced by soaking the fish in a solution of cold water and lye for several days. During this time, the fish begins to swell as its proteins are denatured (AKA cooked slowly, the opposite process of making a ceviche). After its proteins have broken down the fish develops a jelly-like consistency and is very caustic (it may have a final pH of 11-12!). To make the fish edible, a final treatment of another four to six days of soaking in cold water (also changed daily) is needed. Eventually, the lutefisk is ready to be cooked, and dare I say enjoyed?

If you've never had it before be prepared for a pretty strong taste. After all in the Norwegian language, Lutefisk literally means "lyefish."
