Paul had a good appearance on Leno.  His favorite prez was Grover Cleveland.

Jay did a good job with the interview too I thought. Asked some pretty good questions for a non-political guy. Ron's honesty just blows me away. I can't think of another politician that is so unassuming. He's like a child sometimes.

If you have an interesting interpretation of what most directly caused it, by all means, do tell. Aside from the labor union silliness, I haven't heard  any interesting modern interpretations, but I'm not an economist and do not frequently engage in conversations about the causes of events of 80 years ago.

I'm unfamiliar with this expression.

When you talk about double-barreled questions, you mean that there are more aspects to the question than can be answered directly. For example, "How do you and your family feel about this?" would be to ask both how you feel and how your family feels. What I mean is that your question is incredibly complex. One could write a dissertation on it. Or maybe fourteen dissertations, depending on how it's interpreted.

Sure I'll type something up later.

And dissertations have been written on the depression, yet we're discussing it. I'm not sure I see your point.

Great article.  There's no way the GOP will allow him to be their nominee.

True, but that makes it even more interesting. If he doesn't get it, I can easily see him running 3rd party and getting at least 15% of the vote. I know I've had relatives who don't really follow politics express that he's the only one who they like in the whole race. These people are 50+ years old and know Newt is a horrible persona and aren't fooled by Romney's hollow bullsh*t.

Since I am guessing the thread about it will be shut down...

Kim Jonh il is dead, and as I said there. I do see it as a good thing for the NK people.
It's been no secret they want to unify, and like Stalin and Mao...the tyranny shall continue but the realists will slowly shed the cult of personality and work to bring the country into the mainstream.

I wonder how much will actually change though.

Leading people into the blind alley of dependency and grievances may be counterproductive for them but it can produce votes, money, power, fame and a sense of exaltation to others who portray themselves as friends of the downtrodden

Doing nothing may have a better track record in the economy but government intervention has a better political record in getting presidents re-elected.

In the short run nothing. Even in the long run...not so much on the surface.
I imagine it'll be like Stalin, and Mao.
The tyranny will continue but no one was that "big" ever again...and usually realists held power behind the mask.
Those people do want unification and to enter the world market and all that, its just gunna be painful and slow process, minimal 50 years.
