Nice little jam session there, the guys by that point were so intuitive they just mesh together. That was after Tofani left but before Demetrio became ill. |

It is, problem is my music buying month goes by credit card dates rather than the 1st on the month so that means around the 16th

But Mr E Jones is a must. However, I suppose the 16th is alright as well. Better than never anyway. :O

Hey all, do check out the new album "Una Strana Commedia" by Mario Cottarelli, if you like elaborate keyboard rich symphonic projects. Wonderful stuff, he plays all the instruments on the album, but it is mostly a keyboards fest. Both albums are good but I like the second one better.

^ As it happens I've just read your review on that Jim. Sounds like an interesting album. Perhaps being a drummer myself I'm always a little put off by programed drums though. |

As am I, and I believe he does some of both. But the funny part is, after one get used to the dense sounding album, the tight programmed sequences actually work pretty well. I think the Deluge Grander reference applies, if you've heard their last one....at first it sounded a bit messy and muddled, but the payoff comes with repeated plays.

Sometimes i think with me it's a psychological thing.Once i know the drums are programmed i can't get past them.I do think they've come a long way in making them seem more real like on Dean Watson's "Settled" album for example, but anything going back even 3 years ago or more often left a lot to be desired.I guess that's why Steven Wilson went to the trouble of re-doing all the drum parts on those early Porcupine tree records. |

Here's a few short samples that will give you an idea. Although, and I stress again, 30 second samples are not the best way to experience the many great twists on this album, they take time to find you and sink in.....also the streams don't have quite the fidelity depth that that CD does.
Many of the best parts are missed on these, but on the last sample they catch one of the nice segments where some acoustic guitar comes. http://www.believedigital.com/artists/184761-4285,mario-cottarelli.html Edited by Finnforest - October 29 2011 at 10:28 |

^ Well at least he's took some time to give the drum parts some dynamics which helps. I could probably get away with them.

EFFETTO NOTTE : IL POLIEDRO DI LEONARDO (1989)
I like this one. Very difficult to get a CD. You can find information and listen to some samples on the Italian Progressive Rock site : |

If you are interested in weird experimental rock kinda stuff, you all should check out the Los Angeles based group LIGHTSYSTEM....there's a funny, entertaining, cheesy "b-rated" syle short zombie film for the new single "Another Way To Step"...worth a watch! |

I bought this 1977 CD by Andrea Tich a few months ago and I didn't know what to think about it. Now I love it. There is some Zappa and Wyatt feeling in that music. The arrangements are great. |
