There's no release date been set for the album at the moment as far as I know, but Dean might know more, since he has direct connections with the band stretching back a good few years. They are playing the Bloodstock Open Air Festival at Catton Park, Derbyshire, UK, next week on Friday, 11th August (the Sophie Lancaster Stage) - which will be their fourth appearance at the venue - and are refining the material that was written before their hiatus with a view to an eventual album release, but it may not be for a wee while yet.

Well, after a long period of apparent inactivity since this last announcement, it seems that Season's End are still around, and maybe the new album will indeed one day become a reality...
![]() They played a set at The Lounge Bar in Alton on Saturday 15th October, and have two shows booked in London and Portsmouth for the early part of 2017. Some new songs are due to be played at these gigs, along with material from 'The Failing Light'. More info in this facebook post from earlier today. An earlier facebook post informed us that Dave Stanton also joined UK heavy metal band Dendera (as second lead guitarist) back in April of this year. Edit: There are three promo uploads by the band on YouTube from 2011, which may...or may not...form part of the new album - but since they aren't included in this thread as yet, I'll drop them in here anyway: ![]() Edited by yam yam - December 24 2016 at 18:20 |

And it may not be too much longer now...
![]() This from the band's facebook page this morning: http://www.facebook.com/seasons.end ALBUM UPDATE #1: "As of February this year, I (Tim, the guitarist who isn't Dave) took over mixing the album! ... Hello. 2 months in and the guitars had to be completely redone (and were last weekend, in fact), the drums have needed about a million hours of work doing to make them even slightly usable! This has been a huge part of the reason for the album not already being done. Nothing against James' playing, but the recordings just weren't so hot... ... The bad news is I had to start over with the mixing process. The good news is the guitars, drums, bass, vocals, strings / synths are all done! In fact the only instrument left to record is flute for 1 song. All the songs are all roughly mixed and I am now onto the fine tuning of everything. This isn't exactly a quick process, however it does mean this album is almost there! Think of it being about 80% finish of the entire process! In a short while, we will be approaching the mastering stage which is already planned and ready to go when the time comes! Which is pretty good, if you ask me. The Daves are putting together a progress video which we will post up shortly so you can see for yourselves. For now, enjoy this video of the harp recording sessions." Looking forward to this album muchly!

I reckon Dean is right there, Season's end newer stuff is a definate for this site, not so much the debut album! It would be much better to vote yes for Acid Empire instead!

I think this suggestion at this time based upon this (debut) album is a bad idea. It would be much better to wait for the much anticipated (by me at least) second album that, judging by the set they played at Summer's End in support of Threshold, is far more prog metal oriented.
It would be a shame to evaluate and reject them now, then have to do it all over again when the 2nd album is released. Edited by Dean - September 30 2011 at 10:02 |

I'm sure having you on board has played it's part! They were only a four piece for the first album, I believe (plus a guest violinist on "Touch"), with Dave taking on the role of bass player himself in the making of the album. Having a dedicated bass player who's fully tuned in to prog must influence his writing to a certain extent! He seems to be a very talented musician indeed - about time his band received wider recognition!!

Although I have to say as much as I'd love to take the credit for the increased amount of progginess in the new material, the majority of it was written by Dave Stanton!

From Wikipedia.org: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season's_End, "Season's End are a British band based in Hampshire. They describe themselves as playing Progressive symphonic metal, although they are often tagged as a gothic metal band by reviewers and reference sources The band is fronted by string musician Becki Clark, who provides female vocals which are backed by the male vocals of guitarist David Stanton. The underlying music can be categorised as dark and atmospheric, combining lighter elements (such as clean electric guitars, classical stringed instruments and keyboards) with fast, heavily distorted riffs and powerful drums more commonly associated with heavy metal music. Although many of the band's lyrics contain references to religion, they do not consider themselves a religious band." I enjoy this band's music immensely - they have been around since 1998, though with several line-up changes since then, have had a full length album out since 2005 ("The Failing Light"), are currently in the process of recording their second, & their website is: http://www.seasons-end.com/, (myspace: http://www.myspace.com/seasonsend). Their first album may not quite have sufficient prog content for the purists on here - female fronted symphonic/goth metal bands tend not to find favour on the whole, but a second album is on the way with a promise of much more in the way of "progginess". The bass player these days with seasons End is Mike Bridge, who now has his own solo project called Acid Empire about to come to fruition (album release due 3rd Oct 2011). They too are being evaluated on here for prog metal (see post: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=81587). Mike wasn't in Season's End when their first album was recorded, and it is undoubtedly his prog influence that has played a big part in shaping their change in direction for the second album which is now in preparation. Despite this, their first release, "The Failing Light" had a fairly positive review in The Dutch Progressive Rock Page (DPRP) "Prog Metal Special" (2004: Vol 65), despite the review copy being an early release version of the album http://www.dprp.net/reviews/200465.html#seasonsend, so there may be an outside chance even based on this first outing. Two more really excellent reviews of the album are here: http://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/Season%27s_End/The_Failing_Light/48322/ Information for 'The Failing Light' promotion by 1 Records, 2005: "Despite being entirely self financed on it’s initial release last Summer, The Failing Light was met with universal critical acclaim in the British rock press with Metal Hammer hailing the band as “new heroes for the British Goth movement”. This was followed by an immensely successful UK tour culminating in a triumphant appearance at Bloodstock which was summed up perfectly by metal magazine Zero Tolerance; “As a unit they shine brightly – their power, poise and precision surely marks them out for bigger things”. Undoubtedly 2004 was the year that Season’s End established themselves as a genuine underground phenomenon. However, with the release of the re-mixed version of The Failing Light scheduled for July alongside an extensive UK tour, a main stage slot at Bloodstock and the release of the haunting video for “A Ghost In My Emotion” 2005 looks set to see Season’s End take their brand of emotionally intense gothic metal to a much wider audience". So how about some samples of the band? You've got the whole album there! - For more videos (acoustic versions of the tracks, video blogs with snippets of live shows etc.) visit the YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/seasonsendofficial Also visit the band's really excellent website for lots more info: http://www.seasons-end.com/ And don't forget - the new album is going to be even better... ![]() |
