Hi,

I've just browsed Jazz Q's page

http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4050

and I have found that their archives album (1975-1987) named Album které nikdy nevyslo (here marked released in 1975) is categorized as a studio album. I think it should be in the compilation section.

here's a page to prove my word:

http://www.progboard.com/Jazz-Q/Album-kter-nikdy-nevy-lo-Pozorovatelna/3440

If you also think that it should be corrected, then do so.

Thanks.

Probably you are right, but it's not clear for me when it was released - in 1975 or in 1987.

Google search did not bring the answer.

I've sent PM to Marty McFly and asked him to help us.

P.S. Translation from Martin Kratochvil website (http://www.martinkratochvil.com/jazz_q.html):
"In the middle of the eighties there were only two singles with singer Jane Koubková, several records of the time (with Peter and Michael Kocáb Flynem) was published (*???) until 2001 in "Albu, které nikdy nevyšlo" ("Album, which was never released"). Aggregate issue therefore aroused great expectations - not only because the fans of the group so after years of delays, finally got a chance to get a recording that has appeared only on vinyl. At the same time it's no secret that Martin

Kratochvil has a rich archive of unreleased recordings and a few years ago he spoke in interviews of notable publishing plans - the next song-album, compiled from the archives, or preserved, yet unreleased recordings from the sixties."

*??? - not clear, were or were not published until 2001.

It looks like correct release date is 2001.
And in case of previously unreleased material I think clasification (studio album or a compilation) depends on author's point of view.

Anyway let's wait for Marty's answer.

According to the page I'm referring to, it contains material recorded between 1975 and 1987.

I saw it, but there is no information when each track was recorded. What if all tracks are from 1975 and only a bonus is from 1987? It's unlikely, but who knows.Confused

I'll look into it, gather information, interrogate few suspects, pull out some favours in government - usual stuff :-D

As usual, recordings and releases from that era doesn't follow "clean" western ways. We three are all from post communistic countries, so we all know about this (and respective cases in our countries).

This link:
http://www.progboard.com/Jazz-Q/Album-kter-nikdy-nevy-lo-Pozorovatelna/3440
is about double package - Album ktere nikdy nevyslo & album Pozorovatelna

Quote CD 1: archivní nahrávky z let 1975-87
CD 2: reedice alba Pozorovatelna (1973)

CD 1 - archive recordings from 1975-1987
CD 2 - re-edition of album Pozorovatelna

We can leave CD 2 be, it's just new release of old album. But CD 1 are archive recordings. All pages I've read suggests that it was never released. So we have two levels of compilations

1)Album které nikdy nevyšlo is compilation itself
2)Album které nikdy nevyšlo + Pozorovatelna (double package) is compilation of these two albums

So shall we move
http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=20096
to compilation section, even if it wasn't released alone ? It was only released as part of AKNN + Pozorovatelna.

Are you sure, Marty, it was never released as a separate album?

If yes, where the cover used on PA

is taken from?

We will never be too sure, simply because there is no decisive info.

I saw pages supporting both versions, so we have several scenarios

1)Leave the album as studio album from 1975

2)Leave it as studio album and change the year to 2001
source-http://www.martinkratochvil.com/jazz_q.html

3)Change the year to 2001 and set it to compilation type.

4)Change the year to 2001, set it to compilation type and rename it to ALBUM KTERÉ NIKDY NEVYŠLO + POZOROVATELNA.

For example on this page, release date is 2011 and it is just this one album. But is this source relevant ?

Maybe that cover is simply taken from this image (edited, cut-paste):

Quote Až nyní, vychází v rámci reedice klíčového alba Jazz Q Pozorovatelna i cédéčko, sestavené ze skladeb, napsaných Kratochvílem pro nejrůznější interprety a natočených v letech 1975-1987 převážně v autorově už za normalizace tržně fungujícím studiu Budíkov.

-Only now, as part of re-edition of key Jazz Q album, Pozorovatelna, new CD composed out of tracks written by Kratochvíl for various artists and recorded during 1975-1987, mostly in author's recording studio Budíkov

This is taken from interview by Czech Radio from 2001.

You know, Album které nikdy nevyšlo can be taken as a pun - Album that was never released means here that it was never released up until now. So year change is needed (to 2001). It is compilation either way, because it is gathered material from 13 years of recording.

The only question now is if we need to bother ourselves with adding + POZOROVATELNA, or leave the title as it is now, only to change year and type.
