That PdP album should be mandatory for RPI fans.

Chris, Camaleonti is pretty cool.....if you get it let us know what you think of the complete album. The album preceding it might be worth investigating too.

Brilliant work Chris and Linus. Just so happens to be 2 of my fave Italian records
![]() I´ve thought about writing a review for Anima Latina a couple of times, but now with Linus´, Jim´s and Raff´s decorating the page, I´m not sure I want to... For some reason I keep coming back to Raff´s. Must´ve read that thing about 25 times.

Of course you should! I originally promised another 5 star review for that album, so someone has to make up for it now ![]() Edited by LinusW - September 19 2011 at 21:41 |

Well it´s a 5 star in my book, so I might do one at one point just to even things out a bit (seriously though - I don´t really bother that much with ratings. One man´s masterpiece is another man´s plate of sick, and that´s just fine by me really). Right now I´m more focused on some really great records I have in my collection - which all are fairly obscure - even within PA...

Another strange album from 1978. Instrumental with some female vocals here and there. It's a kind of library music album with a touch of prog. Very cool to listen to. The album includes the spoken voice of Tony binarelli. The CD don't, but has bonus tracks. Hard to find, but not impossible.

Nice work from Tarcisio...
Madri senza terra Abash ![]()
Review by
Tarcisio Moura
![]() While the instrumental parts are very effective and obviously having excellent musicians, the band´s strongest point is their singer Annarita Luceri: her voice is simply beautiful, strong and capable of singing virtually everything, from slow poignant ballads to the heaviest rockers without losing its beauty and uniqueness. A great find. Of course all of that would not work as a whole if they didn´t come up with good songs to match their brilliant musicanship, but fortunatly they are able to write very good stuff. Not only all the tunes are very good, but quite varied too, showting how versatile they can be both in songwriting and in perfoming the material. The mixture of several sources is very well balanced, with further elements like folk and a little jazz added here and there for good measure. But the fine melodies, the eastern rhythms, the crunching guitars and prog keyboards are the key to understand their sound. Of course Luceri´s voice steals the show every time she opens her mouth. However, their instrumental prowness should not be taken for granted, enhanced even further with the help of the right production and a very strong tracklist. There are no real highlights nor downers, but if you want just one song to show all their potential in one, then go straight to their second track Niuru Te Core. It quite sums up their proposal in just five minutes of power and beauty. Conclusion: a very nice surprise!! One of the most interesting albums I heard this year and a great promise in the already strong italian prog scene. Very original and still very familiar. Great tunes and nice perfomances. If you´re a fan of melodic prog 9with a little edge on it), then you cannot miss this one. Rating: 4.5 stars. Highly recommended!!! Edited by Finnforest - September 21 2011 at 19:26 |

Pierre, thank you again for Persimfans....really liked that, very odd and beautiful, has to be some Battiato influence during parts of it. We'll put that one before the team.

You're welcome Jim. This album is really interesting. Sometimes it's pure modern ambient music, but with the warm colors of the seventies. |

I also gave the Abash album Madri senza terra 4.5 stars a matter of hours before the review Finnforest rightly highlighted was published. And that with the same opinions, but with different words. Is there not a message in there somewhere ? The likes of Abash just highlights a luxury problem followers of RPI should be aware of: There is a heck of a lot good RPI in the Heavy Prog genre too. What Abash is doing there and what Biglietto Per Inferno is doing in RPI remains a mystery. In short; don't be blind. Open your eyes and visit the Heavy Prog genre too. Everything there from Italy should be treated with the greatest possible interest. And go out and get the three Abash albums. I have all of them and they are as much RPI as I am a two legged fat man.
