Close To The Edge.
Everything before was building up to this album. Everything after has been an attempt to emulate it.

The Yes Album, just because it is The Yes Album.
I would not recommend the same regarding Genesis. Edited by Slartibartfast - August 07 2011 at 06:04 |

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Yessongs is the obvious option for me, though Relayer is really something else... Still, Yessongs it is.

^This. Its really the only one I ever listen to. Their studio albums seem "boxy". I love the raw power of it, sound quality be damned.

Today, I'd say Keys 2, or Magnification.

It's surely between Yes Album, Fragile and Close to the Edge
|
|
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Which ever runs shortest, or has the least of Jon Andersons vocals on it.

That's exactly what I was going to pick. I'm listening to it right now and sure, sometimes the sound isn't quite as crisp and clear as the studio versions (it's a live album from the '70s, what do you expect?), but the sheer wealth of material on offer is incredible.
