Yeah, me three. D'yer Ma'ker is a bit of fun. And I think Alex has something with the mini suite call, and for me, especially the opening 2 taken together (very especially live) are magic. All the pomp and energy of TSRTS just melts into the lushness of The Rain Song. |

Rain Song.
I love No Quarter too, but I think the version on 'The Song remains the same' is better, especially in the film with all the trippy visuals! |

That live take is pretty damn good, that slightly jazzy section and the nice JPJ interplay with Page. Prefer that version to the album too. And probably the most freaky thing about the visuals for me, is Jonesy's haircut |

I couldn't really pick. Every song is pretty awesome.
D'yer Maker, No Quarter, The Rain Song, Over the Hills and Far Away, and the Ocean have all been favorites at one point. |

The Rain Song. Absolutely beautiful, mystical, serene and cathartic.

The whole album is a perfect gem. As Sum 41 would say, "all killer, no filler." This is the album I've listened to the most from Zep. If hard-pressed, I'd say it's a tie between "The Song Remains the Same", "Over the Hills and Far Away", and "Dancing Days" for my favorite track. And Bonzo's count into "The Ocean" is one of my favorite moments in rock music history.

I think it's their best. But there's not a track I wouldn't like to hear produced a little differently, except perhaps "No Quarter." I love "Dancing Days," and what Stone Temple Pilots did with it, but the keyboards on the Houses of the Holy album are just annoying on that track. Don't get me wrong; John Paul Jones is the man, but I think woodwinds or brass horns would have sounded better than those squeaky-toy sounds emanating from the keys.
So "No Quarter" for me.

Uneven recording, mismatched songs, and at least one or two duds that should never have been released. Further, the live versions are far better and more developed - not just in '73 but all the shows - the material continuously being expanded. In my mind it ranks just above Coda, no higher. In fact I generally prefer Coda.

Well about the Song remains the same, i remember how much i've been disapointed when i saw the movie in the seventies, especialy with Page a lot of showing but not quite at the top when playing the guitar and i remenber it was the same with the Atlantic birthday show in the eighties, realy a shame........

The Rain Song at the right time can be soooo good.
Otherwise, No Quarter. Also The Crunge. Where's that confounded bridge?
