This is the new one isn't it? It was on the news here for a while. Even if I don't agree with the plate so much, most of the advice underneath it is simple, to the point and easy to understand. That's what I meant when I was talking about stuff like fad diets/ridiculous advice/government beating around the bush.

I've never had any problem with sugars. But I also don't eat refined sugars; all of my sugar comes from the massive mountains of fruit I eat daily.
And fad diets are retarded. And every chubby person I know has been doing P90X for almost a year while still eating fast food constantly and wondering why they're not getting results. They never listen to me.

It isn't that simple here. We have the USDA and the FDA who instill in all school children this:  It seems sensible, until you realize a few things: 1. That base of the pyramid is actually one of the reasons we have a problem with diabetes. 2. Fats are not the enemy, and why all fats and oils and lumped together with sweets is beyond sense. 3. The USDA created the food pyramid to protect the fiscal interests of...you guessed it- the USDA. It's like putting car salesmen in charge of the Department of Motor Vehicles. |

That's not really true.
People constantly talk about eating less and exercise more, there's no way to hammer that more. I would say the all the ridiculous fad diets people try is because it doesn't work. |

For the first link, that ban is rich coming from a state that made its money on tobacco.  For the second, people act like fast food restaurants are the bane of good health. That may be the case for a select few, but give me a break- most of us can't afford to eat out all the time, and the reason there are so many fat asses is because we like cookies over vegetables and like PS3 over running around outside. Unless the government is going to regulate absolutely everything a person buys, cooks, and literally does, there is no way to forcibly curb obesity. It just can't happen. What will happen through these measures is a more crippled economy. |

Oh lawd, junk food != obesity.
Overeating f**king anything = obesity. ...Or to rephrase that, Energy in > Energy out = weight gain. Why don't they teach people these simple concepts? It's the same here, harass the sh*t out of the fast food giants and only feed the public ridiculous diets/tactile bullsh*t which never gets to the point and confuses simple concepts which would work for >99% of people, if they were willing.
