I just discovered a band that I'll quite like:



They're from Brazil, and the reason for which they caught my attention was the similarity to Tortoise, my favourite post rock band.

Really been in the post-rock mood lately and was reminded of these guys who I hadn't listened to in awhile:

got June of 44's Tropics and Meridians on,  anyone into this proto-math band?   Pretty good stuff, heavy, dirty and fairly complex.  The band was known as "the punk rock pirates of the mathrock world" and this CD is nicely packaged including a sheet of homemade postage stamps in a rice paper envelope, very cool.

I've only heard of them, but if you recommend them I'll put them up on my list of priorities. Thumbs Up

I like Tunnel Blanket a lot, I'll probably rate it ****. Hardcore is good but IMO just more of the same, like the new one from EITS is too. I like both of them but I'd rate them ***.

BTW I read your reviews and I have a problem with this phrase: "Much like their post-rock contemporaries This Will Destroy You, Mogwai dished out another excellent 2011 release that may be even better than the former." Mogwai are veterans, TWDY are newcomers, I see them as representing different ages of the post rock movement (even if right now they are, technically, contemporaries).

I thought it was interesting. I don't know how they'll preform those tracks live, but it was a very cool decision. The best songs were instrumentals though
