Rock El Casbah sounds interesting - I like the Clash original as well, but it was played too often during the years

It's pure Balkan folk - without modern Turkish tunes added, as often happens in Balkans music last years

After the unexpected increase to a 3 hour show last Thursday, this coming Thursday's is all planned out for 3 hours. So lotsof dipping into different honeypots old and new. The new in the forms of Warren Haynes, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Battles, Black Country Communion and nu.fusion godfather Bugge Wesseltoft new collaboration with Henerix Schwartz computer generated um ah(??) on Duo. Tacking back into 70's fusion in various forms: Back Door, Mingo Lewis, George Duke. After the rave e.mail over Mastermind/Jens Johansson's cover of ELP, the real thing to finish the show off.

Strangely quiet here last week guys.

Never sure if it is the night of the 22nd or the 23rd June that is the longest, but on the 23rd we intend making the night seem shorter with the last ALT2 until early October.  This never got close to being a review show, and instead heaps of new (and old) ones to come my way and several archival raids. New: Pat Metheny, Bellfast (would you believe Japanese Anglo Celtic folk in the style of Iron Maiden ....) Bugge Wesseltoft, David Sylvian (at his most challenging), The Cars. While old lifted from a dusty part of the archives: Barrelhouse Annie, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons. So expect anything. (And if I can get the time from 7.30 to 8pm, somethings atypical of my normal selections, and in particular as a tribute to Clarence Clemons, great sax breaks in some familar tunes).
