He's on PA. You can use the search function to check whether your suggestions were made already in the past. Just make sure to change "Find Posts --> Last Six Months" to "Find Posts --> Any Date".

No worries.  I moved this topic to this forum earlier since I do not think there can be too much Terry Riley appreciation.  Hope people will check out the youtube clips you posted.

yes, Riley is in prog Related. I would be very interested to hear why you think it hilarious.  I supported the addition.  Shame you were not around to offer your reservations when it was suggested last:

Since a insufficient access error wiped my post. The short answer: Of the seven criteria listed he meets only the first. He meets it no more so than many other composers and bands. He fails terribly the seventh criteria.

Could Tangerine Dream have existed without Terry Riley? Not only he deserves to be on PA. He's underestimated, too.

I take this from a rainbow in curved air sleeve cover : The sky is blue with a few clouds in it, five minute later, you look at it again, you're under the impression that nothing has changed and yet it isn't the same. it's the way Riley music works and one would pretends it's not progressive music? i'm amazed Confused

Bach influenced a lot of bands here too. Many more than Riley. ELP made a career from him. He was also active at a time when the prog scene was dormant. Let's get him accepted.

Whatever though. I guess I can at least review his albums now.

I like maybe 25% of Riley's work. Shri Camel and Rainbow in Curved Air I think are great, which is unsurprising since I love prog electronic kind of music. His classical-ish compositions are so incredibly boring, though. I did, however, enjoy Requiem for Adam

The majority of minimalism is just gross.

The majority of every genre is gross.

Again, this is the problem: are we talking about progressive rock or progressive music?
I should have a chit-chat with my father and ask him if he could consider Riley as a progressive rock artist... If he is, then Steve Reich, Philip Glass or Michael Nyman are to be included into the PA database.
