Quadrophenia without a doubt for me, their most symphonic work and full of brilliance everywhere.
Who's Next and Tommy follow at some distance, although I have to admit that I'm not really familiar with some of their other albums so I may have missed something.

Tommy! Clap

Come on, that monster of an album was released in 1969, when all the other bands were still recording simple music, Pink Floyd included.

Pete was a strange sort of writer; he could write songs at least as good as people like Roy Wood, 'Substitute' for instance, yet he was erratic in the quality of writing, not very prolific at all, which is a shame. Though in between the lovely songs, he did put together some interesting band arrangements and power riffs.

Tommy or Quadrophenia.

I used to think Tommy the best. Then I bought Quadrophenia. Yep, that gets my vote. Brilliant album. Not into Whos Next?much to be honest.

Until yesterday night, I would have picked Who's Next 9 out of 10 days. But I heard Quadrophenia again yesterday and am blown away, definitely my favourite The Who now.

Live at Leeds. But surely The Who were a Rock band, pure and simple?

Quadrophenia, a great album and a fantastic movie too!
