Favourite Led Zeppelin album?

I always thought Led Zep were too unsubtle, in your face. Good musicians, but a band of riffs and mad howls. But when I heard Kashmir, I thought that was brilliant. Not sure what album it was on, but must hear the rest if that's representative.

That can only mean you haven't listened to much, and al that you got to listen was opposed to your tastes. But subtlety is an integral part to Zepp's music, too, just as riffs, blues licks, howls and all that.

Thanks for that. True I didn't listen much to the albums, mostly heard radio stuff, though saw Zep 'live' a few times in the late sixties and didn't like them, thought it was all bombast. Seemed a shame for such great musicians, pandering to the madding crowd like goalkeepers doing camera dives. But it's fair to say my comments can only be sweeping statements when I haven't looked in depth. Thanks for the clues!
