Notice: Joe Satriani due to his short appearance in the band and not recording with them isn´t included.

There are many Ritchie´s haters. (I´m one of them.) Therefore I´m very curious to rate of all Deep Purple guitarists.

One is above the others and he is Ritchie! Without doubt the best ever Purple guitarist!

I really love Steve Morse and he has injected new vitality in the band and he is a sh*t hot plank spanker......but It has to be Blackmore. The man is a legend!

This.

If only I had £10 for every ridiculously straightforward question like this, I would be a rich man by now.

Blackmore by far.

Seriously? You've placed Ritchie along the other two? Why don't you make a poll where the results are not the obvious? I'm telling you this as a suggestion, I mean, be honest here, don't you REALLY know that at least 80% will vote for Ritchie?

Maybe having placed Steve Morse against Tommy Bolin would be more interesting.

BTW, I'm a bigger fan of Tommy than of Ritchie.

I know they were long time ago, just showing the obvious results.

To my ears, its not Deep Purple without Ritchie Blackmore.

I personally like Tommy the best of these three guitarists, and I voted for him just to keep things interesting.

But his Purple work is not his best, and Ritchie's define the band. But I've spent much more of my life listening to Tommy play guitar than Ritchie.

Steve's good but I just haven't spent that much time listening to him.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Of course I like Ritchie Blackmore more than the other two and I would like to be with Deep purple. But I voted Morse because I like his style and he fits with Deep purple. And I think that his sound is more thick than Blackmore's.

And I know that he doesn't sing in Italian.LOL

Enjoyed Ritchie Blackmore in the band and all through the 70's of course. I loved his guitar playing on "Pictures Of Home" which doesn't seem to be mentioned too much on this site. He plays some really interesting improvisation in the center and ending jam. My vote is Blackmore but seriously.....Tommy Bolin was a monster player and surprisingly diverse. I think maybe Blackmore respected his playing.

I should change the options and include: "all three"!

Surely I should vote Blackmore, historic (and first) DP axeman. But I have seen Morse in concert. Bolin like me a mess but it was a meteor.

So... Blackmore or Morse? Difficult. But I vote for Morse becaiuse I have seen Morse in Concert!

Tommy Bolin - when he was clean! an incredibly underrated guitarist. I'm not a Purple fan but my fave Purple album is Come Taste The Band. Sorry guy's I can't stand Blackmore, moody and overrated.
