But Elton John sucks. Well, some of his early stuff was not bad but it's not to my taste.

Despite? I would assume Tintin is famous in all of Europe.

Dickens is a surprisingly boring read, on a totally unrelated note. The Victorianisms are horrid.

I liked Frankenstein and I think that is from around the victorian period
it is amazing that Mary Shelly was 18/19 years old when she wrote that book,
