RIP Sparky.  Outside of music two of my favorite memories of the 70's was the Raiders, Dolphins Steelers rivalry in the NFL and  Sparky's Big Red Machine Clashing with Lasorda's Dodger's.  Man those were great times.  Never a loss for a quote between those 2.

RIP Dave Niehaus.  Those outside of Seattle will not understand, but he was da man as far as the Mariners go.  He'd seen it all, the bad times, the good times, but his unwavering love of the game got him through it all.  Get out the mustard and rye bread, and fly fly away, Dave.  Cry

Yanks GM Brian Cashman flew to Arkansas to talk to Cliff Lee. So it goes. I wonder when the Yankees payroll will top 300M?

I'm not sold on the fact that Lee is going to NY.

Well I was completely SHOCKED last night when my wife told me she heard he passed away at home. I have some faint rememberance of him when he did some work with the California Angels. I was a big Angels fan back in the 70's........

Watching the Mariners on TV will not be the same without his voice....it just won't.

Yes on KTLA I believe when they had the Angels broadcasts and prior to Enberg going to CBS.

^ Very cool.  I didn't follow the Angels as much as the Dodgers.  Enberg also did UCLA basketball during most of the Wooden years and UCLA football too.

For those so inclined, a well written article on the 2010 championship and why it may never be the same in the playoffs.

The Dan Uggla trade rumors have begun here.  He would be a great pick up for the Tigers.  Not sure what we would send the other way.  I'm assuming Scott Sizemore, Brennan Boesch and either Jacob Turner or Andy Oliver.

Yes, I know. Cry  Edgar Renteria strikes again. Angry  All that Atlanta had to give up was Omar Infante and a reliever.  Omar was one of the guys the Tigers gave to Atlanta in return for one year of crappy play from Edgar Renteria.

Joey Votto MVP. Cardinal nation is not happy. The last time we had a ball player with the name Joey he changed it to Albert. That didn't work out too well for Albert Belle.
