Topic: Saga vs Muse Posted: October 30 2010 at 07:11
both band seems to divide people in to camps of how to defie progressive rock, both are clearly borderline bands, but both are also highly regarded by their hardcore fans of being top tier prog bands
both are also highly regarded as top live acts, Saga in the club area and Muse as an arena band, both are heavy guitar based, strong vocalists, bombastic, some Queen influence
ofthen huge sound as well, operatic
you might think this is a odd pareing but if you think deeply at the similaritys they are not so far apart

Muse are so damn awful - I don't see how they re even borderline prog. They're a pop-rock band, only interested in making MTV music.
Bellamy's vocals are the most grating point. He's ridiculously whiney and wailey, no strength present whatsoever. His thing of taking very sharp, very audible breaths between lines is also really annoying - shows a complete lack of technique and makes me think he may have emphysema.
