Yeah, I don't get it either. The Giants have one of the worst top-to-bottom lineups to ever reach the world series and that happens? Something's wrong here. |
The trick is get hot at the right time. Their pitching carried them through the season (The Padres falling apart sure helped them as well). Since the post season started they have hit a ton. Remember the 69 mets? The 88 Dodgers? It can happen and I think the Giants have a better pitching staff than either of those clubs. They are playing with fire unlike the Phillies or the Yankees. Have to play real baseball in the NL parks and Vlad in right field made sure they got an extra run or two. BTW Giants have been to 16 world series and won 4 of them though they have never won any since moving to SF. My heart hopes they lose big time since I am a Dodger fan but when I read things from people back east it makes me want them to win.

Which is why play-off series should be 21 games.

I'm kind of ambivalent to this World Series. I am thrilled that the Yankees aren't there, but now I don't have anybody to root against. There are 3 former Tigers on both teams, but none of them that really made a mark while they were Tigers. Based on that line of thinking though, I would probably have to root for the Rangers. Edgar Renteria was a major flop, and he cost of Jair Jurrjens and Omar Infante; Aubrey Huff was a major flop last year and probably cost us the playoffs. Cody Ross is just another dumb move by Dave DUMBrowski are team president. On the Rangers side, backup catcher Matt Trainor never got a hit as a Tiger and got hurt the first week of the season and never played again. Although his wife is Missy May Trainor, so that is a plus. Clay Rapada was a so-so left handed situation reliever for a season or two but hardly memorable, and to be honest I only know that Colby Lewis was a Tiger because the Tiger announcers mentioned it when we faced him during a game this season.

You mean like $130 million instead of $132 million.

^ Yea, I can see where u coming from......I'd like to root for SFO because of Tim Lincecum, being he's a Washington boy and all.
I'd like to see the Rangers win it for Nolan Ryan....40yrs after his last and only WS win.
I don't care much but would prefer the Rangers win it.

WOW!!! Really Giants blank the Rangers in Gm2.....hmmm, guess the Rangers have caught a cold or something. Deep hole now, but 3 in Texas they need to even it up in the first 2 gms.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the score on Sports Center last night. I've not watched but it has been sort of a disappointing Series so far. I hope that it gets better in Texas.

^ I've watched both games....Rangers are in a funk bigtime...pitching last night for them was horrendous!!!! I think they walked in 3 runs in that 6-7 run 8th. 14 pitches in a row, 13 were balls...yikes!
I was really expecting better scoring and making the games like 8-10 runs for each.

These games have been routs. Tejas is helpless. I'm smelling a four game and done series.

Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

Cardinal fans are comparing Colby Lewis to Chris Carpenter. I don't see it.

They're all worked up by the rumor that Albert is asking for 10 years/300M for his next contract.

31, so he would be paid til he's 42. It's just rumors. Cardinal nation is saying that if that's what it's going to take to keep him.....trade him and get some worth out of him.

So is the WS over and done with? Who would have thought the Giants would be up 3-1?

^ Yea I am really disappointed with the Rangers.....almost like the days of old for them...They will score 12 runs but still loose by 1.
Still I am happy for Lincecum if they win it.....being he is a local boy and all.

Probably longer than that......I suspect he would get 50% thru the 10yrs and balance over another 10yrs.
I would not mind having him here in Seattle......we certainly need the bat and have had no luck at 1st base either.
But I don't think we have any money either.....ticket sales next year are gonna be the krapp.
