PA is not a site dedicated to including all the available information on bands, like an encyclopedia, but a site which enables fans to comment music albums in the form of reviews. Biographies are secondary in the case of famous bands (and can become essential only if the band is obscure). The beginners are made aware of the importance of certain bands by the high places that albums of those bands occupy in the charts.

If you want extened information, go on Wikipedia, they're an encyclopedia.

I think the bio's are open to question. I wrote the bio's for Keith Emerson ,Greg Lake and Carl Palmer as solo artists but I wouldn't particularly want to go back and read them again as I didn't spend perhaps as much time and thought on them as I probably should. However I did spend a lot of time on their respective discographies with getting things like the dates and details of album releases correct which to me was more important than the introduction.

As others have said this site is really for people to leave opinions more than it is meant to be encyclopedic.

LOL egotistical w**kers

P.S.  when you are talking about prog, Pink Floyd definately require special treatment, considering the fact that they helped create the genre?

A conception of prog as a genre that is 'created' by 'help' form individuals doesn't make sense to me. I'd suggest a more tentative use of the word 'fact' and consider the wise words of David Burne
Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
Facts don't stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape

(Talking Heads - Remain in Light - Crosseyed and Painless - 1980)

Hi. Welcom sohraab. I'm very happy to see another IRANIAN prog lover in this site.Unfortunately its not a good start in PA. I undrestand you and I know what you say but some of PA's forum guys like to attack to new members. I must write in English in forum but if you want to connect with Persian, you can use "Member Control Panel" and "Privet Message". PA is the best prog site I have ever seen (IMO). You can enjoy in PA (like me) and I hope to see you in forum again.

wow, i love the pdeudo-intellects on the interenet.
You may find that it is a fact that Pink Floyd "helped" create the genre, you may also find that the use of the word "helped" implies that there may have been many more "helpers" which should make sense to you, as prog comes from a large span of varying influences. However i was merely pointing out the fact that as Pink Floyd were such original and early inovators of psychadelic music which later was a large part of the evolution of prog, they do deserve special treatment. This is so that people can truly understand the importance of this band to the genre. And concidering that this is the PROG ARCHIVE it may be important to  people interested in or learning about prog to know an accurate version of the story of the band Pink Floyd. Not only that, but i believe this forum is about the article on Pink Floyd, not being good enough, which therefor means that it is not that they deserve special treatment, but the same treatment as all the other innovating bands, such as crimson that were mentioned earlier.
If you want to be an arsehole and diss on a whole fan base to make you feel superior, you may want to start arguing the correct argument instead of regergitating a completely unoriginal phillosophy to try and change my use of words.
The worst thing one can do when arguing is tangent, because now you are void.
Have Fun with you superiority complex.Clap
