![]() Tinyfish have announced that the release date of their second full length studio album, The Big Red Spark, will be Friday 10 September. If you are in London, then do come along to the launch party which is being organised by the Classic Rock Society at the Lunimaire in the London suburb of Kilburn, where Declan Burke's new band Destroy All Monsters will be supporting. The album will released on the F2 label and will be available through Tinyfish or progrock records in the UK. This is what the band have to say: After three years of toil, The new Tinyfish album, The Big Red Spark, is finally finished, and to celebrate, you'll be able to join us at the Luminaire in Kilburn for a very special gig to launch the album on an unsuspecting world. Tickets for the gig are available through the CRS www.classicrocksociety.co.uk or from the Luminaire http://www.theluminaire.co.uk Tickets are, I believe £10.50 and CRS members will get a discount if they book in advance. Been waiting for this for a long time. It's going to be a very good CD, I can tell you. Declan Burke is supposed to be good as well.
I'm hoping to be there. Edited by chopper - August 11 2010 at 15:10 |

Tonight sees the launch of the long awaited new Tinyfish CD "The Big Red Spark" at the Luminaire, Kilburn.
Support act is Dec Burke and I've read good things about his new CD "Destroy All Monsters" so this should be a good gig.

For those who haven't seen it, this is Geoff Barton's review of The Big Red Spark from the last Classic Rock -
"Three years in the making, The Big Red Spark is a concept album tour de force- and then some. The world's smallest prog band (as Tinyfish like to style themselves) have forged an absolute monster, equal parts deeply involving and massively confusing.
Based on a dream vocalist/guitarist Simon Godfrey once had, TBRS tells the tale of a mysterious machine created from the thoughts of mankind. It could be an euphemism for the Internet; it could be something else entirely. All we know for sure is it's 'an engine of metal that moves like water..'. See what we mean by confusing? All the familiar Tinyfish traits are here, but amped up to the max. Jim Sanders' guitar sounds gigantic; the recurring themes reverberate with chilling precision; the spoken word parts sound like they've been lifted from the script of Blade Runner. Or Brazil. Or Metropolis.. even though it was a silent movie. See? That's the twisted effect Tinyfish have on you. We've never given a 9/10 rating in the prog column before, so here goes..." So it's officially Classic Rock's best prog CD ever!

How long's it going to be before Tinyfish finally get the recognition they deserve outside of the cult following they already have?

I think the Big Red Spark is stunning.
Robot78, I don't know about release dates for the US, but you should be able to order the CD from Tinyfish.org with a Paypall account. Or go onto their website and hassle them about US release dates. |

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

What annoys me is the massive exposure that the good but inferior Touchstone are getting in the classic rock and prog press. They seem to be everywhere these days (including opening the High Voltage festival). They must have good agents.
