I do like the 2000s versions but I think my favourite versions are from the 1970s.  Especially the Opera de Rheims and Retrospektiw I-II (actually recorded in the early '80s) versions.

There is still not a definitive version of M.D.K. for my tastes though.  If I could get them to record the version I want, I'd be the happiest man ever.

I like the abrasive French speech from the Retrospektiw I-II version, as well as the apocalyptic synth.  But I like the trumpets and the long bass solos of other versions (the bass solo on Opera de Rheims is awesome!).

I could easily live without the violin.

Compositionally it's wonderful and perhaps my favourite Magma piece.  I just wish I could hear my version. LOL

That 15 albums thing was annoying.  I got to about 13 and didn't have a single Magma album in my list!  I had to delete Pocket Orchestra in order to put in E-Ré!

I guess I'm lucky to be a Magma fan and a live music fan as they've put out so much live material (and they'll probably release more, they're just too good now not to do it). Plus there's also the bootlegging done by the dedicated fans; out of the three Magma concerts I've been to, two of them are on my hard drive as excellent non-pro recordings. Approve

I also have the London gig I attended as a bootleg.  Not bad quality but I wish I had a soundboard copy as Stella and the girls sounds out of tune. Confused  They didn't sound like that to me when I was there. LOL

Probably the French bootleggers are more professional than the English? Tongue

Alex, I presume you speak French?  If so, could you mayhap assist me with some translation?

Indeed.  It didn't pick up my heckling!

Just before the band came on I shouted "Magma iss deh Hundin".  I either wasn't loud enough or it was just before the guy decided to press record.

My French is still quite bad, but at least I can try to help. What needs translated?

And in retrospect, I don't really like Félicité Thosz all that much.

I loved Kobaia though.  Damn, that tune is more awesome now than it's ever been.

The introductory speech to M.D.K. on Retrospektiw I-II.  I think it's Vander but it maybe Blasquiz.  It's in French, from what I can tell.

There's also a speech on the version on Trilogie au Trianon but that's far less epic and it's not the same speech.

Was it written down somewhere? I have neither of those two records.

I can't believe you live in a town of 500! Crazy. Wacko

What town is it?

This one.

LOL I was wondering why Matt is calling his village a "town" when I read that Wiki calls it a village too LOL

Village then. LOL No one calls it one though.

Nope, it's not written down, from what I can see.

I presumed you'd have those two?  Baring in mind the latter is 2000s recording and you like the 2000s recordings of M.D.K. more.

Plus you're missing out on Theusz Hamtaahk!

Damn, I missed a vital album off of that 15 list...

Elton Dean's Ninesense - Live at the BBC

The first time I heard the version of Seven for Lee (aka Seven for Me), my jaw dropped.

I don't suppose someone else happens to know French and has access to those two Magma live albums? LOL
