whom of the main carachters, 2nd caracters, less important caracthers or villians in the Wheel of Time universe do you like/dislike, and reasons why you like that caracter or reasons for youre dislike,

what are the valuable aspects of tWoT which makes it such a nice work of fantasy

and since the Eye of te World is now set out to become an epic movie what elements do the Wheel of Time have that make it stand out from the rest of the gasillion epic fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, horror movies out thier

mye favourite caracthers are as follows

Mathrim Cauthon - he is so funny and such a nice caracter to follow around on he's thoughts, to see he's point of view, to play dice when he is on a winning streak.

Perrin Aybarra - he is the carracter whos personality is very similar to mine (not he's physical shape since im more of a Cairhien  in size)

Elayne Trakand - many on Dragonmount forum seems to hate here, bur for me she is a very sharming girl and she's a princess

Thomdril Marilin - (looks like Tony Levin)

Rand Al'Thor - like him or hate him it all depends on he's psyche and mental stabilaty

al'Lan Mandragoran - he is just so cool, and you would NOT mess with him (or he's wife)

Cadsuane - I realy like this bossy woman Embarrassed

I always wanted to read the wheel of time series but I never got to.
I guess I'm too much of an "Song of Ice and Fire" and "Dune" fan. Tongue

NOT one on a Prog site reads THE fantasy epic over all epics , i am suprised,

bye the way the tWoT forum is the best network society I know of, and a good forum, with a lot of nice discussions, their are few Fantasy epics with more theories then this

Um, various few:

Rand is one of the most convincing characters developed from peasant to hero.

RE: Mathrim... when Jordan attempts to be racy, his writing tends to be very unconvincing... hence I found a lot of scenes around Math/matt rather uninvolving.

Elayne: I guess it's because a lot of Jordan's female-focalised scenes tend to have digressions about clothes followed by mild personal ambivalence about said clothes.

---

My problem with the development of the series is that at some point around the fifth book (IIRC, been a while since I've read them) Jordan becomes more interested in theoretical explanation of his magic. This is usually a bad thing for fantasy series... the emotional power of magic comes, in my view, from its unexplainedness, from what we don't know it can do.

Also, a lot of characters seemed to die and get reborn... a few characters get built up and killed without much comment and character development is quite explicit.

Personally, loved the first three or four books, thereafter I think it dipped a bit.

---

Out of interest, any other George RR Martin fans there...? my earliest memory is anticipating the release of the new one.

I Heart Elayne Trakand ( but don't tell Rand er else he would Ballfire me) but she is pregnant with twins, but it's fiction so hooo cares.

I like Min Farshaw as well but not that much, Nynaeve is to balsy and dangerous, Egwene is the Amerlyn Seet  so she is untouchable (unless youre name is Gawyn Trakand)

and I see were people are falling off on the series, and I KNOW it is not the best Fantasy series, but for me,
the Wheel of Time with both the ++++s and the -  -  -  -  s it's the series I care the most fore (exept Steven Erikson Malazan)

since Im a fanboy of the series (though I'm totaly awear of what people are negative about)
but to me the books structure works for me and I take them in different sections and so Ive learnd to read it in a different tacktick

from book 1 - 3 - 5 it is action, adventure, and caracter development (they get to know their skils)
6 - 9  make threads, followe the stories of Matt and Perrin (my guys), kill some Forsakens, epic battles (like the Batle of Dumai,s Wells), clear the way for the lesser evils.

10 - 11 get ready an prepeard for the last battle, get the marriges over, rescue the loved ones, kill some Shaidos, and fake Seanshan,

12 (1,2 and 3) Tarmon  Gai'don

I would highly recommend reading " A Song of ice and fire",  you might not think so highly of "Wheel of time" after reading itLOL.
