You know, it seemed to be inversely proportional to my love of PT which was a growing process over the course of a year or so.

Well, it hasn't actually been confirmed that Portnoy is drumming on this yet. So far, its a Wilson/Akerfeldt project.

I think Gavin would be fantastic, although maybe a bit too familiar because of his (amazing) signature style... David Bodie from Kayo Dot is my next pick after Gavin for best modern drummer, although they have such insanely different and jaw-droppingly amazing styles it's really hard to compare.

Oh this is good.  I went to my local chain store after work today looking for the new Porcupine Tree DVD and was bummed they weren't stocking it.  Stock what I'm after or I walk, dammit!!!  The funny part was that there was a shoplifting taking place as I was leaving.  I think it was like three people.  One of the women pushed through the automatic doors before they could open to make her escape.  Weird. LOL

Other choices? I'm with you on Bodie. Also, Danny Carey from Tool would be a fine selection. Or Neil Peart?

Danny Carey, now there's a thought. That'd be great
Neil Peart is fantastic, although I like the more subtle stylings of other drummers. The more I think of it, Martin Lopez (used to be in Opeth) would be fantastic as well.

the project seems interesting. i love both pt and opeth but i'm not a very big dt fan. i'd love to see tomas from meshuggah behind the drum kit, in several interviews sw has said he wants to collaborate with them

Now that's what I would love to see!  I know Steven's a Rush fan, something tells me Mikael isn't... LOL
 
 
Martin's a great drummer but I think he is too similar to Gavin.

I just thought of something: maybe they could get Chris Maitland??...that would be a good line-up; he'd be the perfect drummer for the electronic, psychedelic stuff (if they do that).

My IEM boxset arrived yesterday! The packaging is very nice, with the individual vinyl style album sleeves. Haven't had a chance to throw it on the CD player yet. Ought to do it today!

PORCUPINE TREE: have released their "Insurgentes" DVD cover...
Here’s the cover to the forthcoming DVD release of the Insurgentes movie. Subtitled in Spanish, French, German, and English, sound mixed in stereo and 5.1 surround sound.

It will be released on 27th September by KScope as a 2 disc set including the following extras: 31 minute film of Bass Communion and Pig live in Mexico City, the Harmony Korine video, trailers, alternate ending, footage of a Q+A session with SW and Lasse from the international premiere at the Copenhagen film festival, and 6 audio out-takes from the album recording sessions.

Wow... they really packed the DVD full of goodies!  I can't wait to purchase this set; I'm sure it will be great.  It's also gonna be great to see some live Bass Communion stuff.  Keep it coming Steven!

Awesome! That's even more extras than I was hoping for! I've gone nuts with the SW/PT stuff this year, but I'll be getting this one for sure!
