I know this blog is about Québec but bands from the rest of Canada such as Machines Have Landed,Melodic Comission Energy and Souls of Inspyration would granted inclusion here.No doubt.

From Quebec Maledictus Sound was a blast from the late 60's much like L'Infonie they sounded a bit like early Gong.
Agape,The Medium,WD.Fisher,Contrevent and 1001 Est Crémazie should also be in PA.

Agape is in for some time now.

So is WD Fisher

L'Infonie is in process of being added.
Maledictus Sound was considered for inclusion some time ago. I don't know what happened to it.

I'm still waiting for  Normandeau's bio (whoever is willing)

I'd like to ask to which genre team should be proposed Contrevent and if someone can provide some samples

^ There are currently approximately fifty biographies to write for the ZART now. And we're four working on that. When there'll be less cleared bands, I'll take some time to write Normandeau's bio.

the problem is that the JR/F team is quite picky about my suggestions of late (mostly Easy Money) and insist on having sound samples before saying Yes, so if one of you could ask for Contrevent's inclusion and eventually provide samples, I'd appreciate it.

I've never heard their stuff and the vinyls don't come cheap (not mentionning the extraordinary expensive Canadian Postal rates.) and I've never seen mentioned that this was out on CD (given the dates of releases, they should be).

I have two of their releases on CD,another one on tape.(yeah,I still listen to those relics of by-gone era, lol).I can't provide samples for the simple fact that I am dumb and dumber with internet and don't know how to!!!
But I will try and arrange something with you.

About Offenbach's discography....

It needs many amendment,or should I say additions.All the following albums are not listed in their entry's dicography;

-Les grands succès Barclay(nice early compilation that came out in the 70's)
-Rockorama(studio album,1985)
-Le Dernier show(Live album that was realeased in 86,also came out in video-DVD format)
-L'Ultime(Box set containing the last show on DVD as well as best off Cds)
-1/3/5 and 2/3/4 (Box sets that came out in 1992)
-Nature (studio album made out of accoustic versions of some of their classics)

If you want these albums in the discography, they can be added by anyone...
Personally I think only the two in bold are useful (Offenbach is prog-related), but if you want you can add it all.

Well, that is normal. A genre team can't evaluate a band without having heard the band. Confused
But if you offer samples, I'm sure they'll evaluate it and eventually clear it for addition.

Even if they are prog related,I think it is important to list those as they are legit issues in the band s discography, but just like the samples,I dont know how to!Dead

But I can provide infos for some of these albums....

the only way to privide samples is either youtube it or load the MP3s on email as attachments, and send them direct. Thats not that hard but is well worth it if you are serious about this.

Les Maledictus Sound (and Horrific Child) are not prog.
Its a cat's breakfast - effects,lounge,pop,ballads.....

Even though Massiera of course was a Frenchman, I beleive this one WAS recorded in Quebec.

....
Perhaps I overlooked it, but apparently its a shame that my favorite Quebec prog lp, "Deux" by Dionne/Brejent, was not brought up here.
Their  first lp is no slouch either - what with the exceptional cosmic long title track.

And Vincent Dionne's first solo lp is quite good - albiet quite difficult to find (in my experience).

What of HORN "On the people's side"?   Good lp with Zappa influence.  Seem to recall it was recorded in Toronto, but seeing has how French and English lyrics.....

Even though not Quebec - but from my hometown Burlington,Ont - good to see the group Machines Have Landed get mention here.
Their '81 lp,  "Part 1" is difficult to snag.
Been compared to Ethos & Fireballet.
Its a  SCI-FI concept on aliens landing, and, yes, there is a bit narration.
Loads keys, duo electric guitars, good vocals.....

I have a trade copy available (for any Canadian traders). Some Quebec  (prog 70s) lps Im looking for are:
Champignons
Opus 1
Offenbach - Saint Chrone wotsit
Guy Rheaume - Reve

etc.
