I'm glad that the site gets advertisers, and I actually click on many of them to see what they are about.

But that Kiss ad is pissing me off.  I'm not going to like Kiss any more if the stupid ad keeps opening up and covering what I'm trying to read.

In fact, I'm much less likely to spend money for advertisers who resort to that crap.

OK.  I'm done.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Well, no Kiss ad in Czech Republic (Europe) for me. So far. Actually nothing ever behaved like what you described before. I'll be glad if it stays that way.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Does anyone here actually like Kiss?
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

As long as it wasn't a "tongue lubricated" condom ad:

Some people like KISS here, especially Music From the Elder.  I quite liked the made-for-tv movie KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.

I use Firefox with Adblock Plus and NoScript, so I don't see the ads on PA.

Yeah Logan, I could use Adblock, but I like PA, so I don't want to deny them the revenue from the ads loading because I assume a lot of this site is bandwidth intensive. But when the ads start to get obnoxious I am tempted to kill them.

On PF-CO, one of the prominent members was a giant Kiss fan, it was pretty embarassing. I don't know anybody else who likes KIss.

It seems that just in the past week or two many sites have decided to implement MUCH more intrusive advertising. I see it all over Yahoo news articles, many of the news sites, in fact, and this Kiss ad is definitely overstepping a bit.

I don't know if anything could even be done, but if so please! It's real f*cking annoying, it's popping up on every page for me, including this one LOL

Kiss are from USA. This is happening to USA members only. Logic is working :-)

I hate these muslim matrimonial sites, japanese date sites ads that are appearing for example on Israel topic & on Keishiro's Japanese blog. They are static though.

Guys,

As May 2010, Progarchives.com is now represented by Fixion Media for advertising booking.

About Fixion Media:

Fixion Media is a vertical music advertising network that represents rock and heavy metal related web sites. From interactive rich media to geo-targeted banners and background ads, allow us to bring your message to a massive alternative audience. Technology-wise, Fixion Media exclusively uses the Helios IQ advertising server, which is a 3rd party platform certified IAB compliant by BPA Worldwide.

So we are experiencing and tweaking the ads to get the better ads results VS the best visitors non-annoying experiences.

This is a great news for PA, a big step forward.

Please be patient with this. PA members have always be quite supportive about this over time.

Thanks,

Max

Thumbs Up

Firefox > AdBlock Plus > No Banners or Pop-ups > Yay!
Music is some kind of art.

Yeah this ad could no be more annoying.  Every single time i click on a new topic/board/link it comes up.  It has most certainly been the reason behind my lack of attendance on PA.  And will most likely continue to be.
It also doesn't help that I absolutely hate Kiss and can't begin to understand why it's being advertised on a progressive rock website, as it's about as generic, poppy, and cliche' as music can get.

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

There may be some bands I like less but I agree with the sentiment.  Shame of this is that it isn't even the fact that it's KISS that makes the ad so annoying.  If an ad for a "King Crimson: Original Lineup Reunion Tour" were done in this format it would be just as annoying.

They may have been the first band to ever sell-out before becoming popular.

Thanks, M@x, for the update.
I don't want to block this sites ads, either.  I've actually bought a few advertised albums (Amasseffer & Derek Sherinian come to mind) after leaning about them from ads here.

And i's good to know that I'm not alone in being annoyed by the ads.  And Kiss.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Hey look, as long as you're not trying to sell us Shamwows or something. Tongue

I am strangely intrigued by the Kizz Kondoms...
