How is that possible?

Magic.

It's just there in the air.

Which Miles album are you referring to, by the way?  In a Silent Way has a pretty immaculate group of musicians, but not Ron Carter.

I want the Samla Mammas Manna boxset.  Alas, there's other music I want more, so it's still not purchased.  Same with the Henry Cow box set, especially since either one would be all of my spending money from at least one paycheck, maybe even one full and part of another.

The Henry Cow box set is so far out of reach I am just trying to not think about it. LOL

Never. But it could have been possible, considering they all played with Davis WinkTongue

Yeah, I wish it wasn't so much...even like $130 I'd be considering it, but $180 for 10 discs is a bit more than I'm willing to pay right now.  Of course, later it'll just be more expensive, so it's kind of a lose-lose situation. LOL

Hmm, now that I'm looking on ReR's website, where it's still available in two chunks instead of all at once, it's not quite as upsetting.  I might try it, preferably one of the two at a time.

The only way I'd afford it is if I suddenly found myself considerably more wealthy. Any tricks to winning the lottery? Tongue

Oh, when you said "How is that possible," I thought you meant that it happened before.

Honestly, I was LOL
I didn't notice it was Dave Holland who was playing bass in In a Silent Way.

I'm not sure, after first listen, if I get why In a Silent Way is considered better than Filles de Kilimanjaro...
However, Bitches Brew is the best thing Davis ever recorded.

Hmm, Gabe...should I jump right into Morton Feldman's music with String Quartet No. 2? LOL

Start with Patterns In A Chromatic Field.
Expensive, but worth it.

Seriously, though, my favourite contemporary composers are Arnold Schönberg, Alban Berg, Milton Babbitt, Igor Stravinsky and Charles Ives.
Also, Edgar Varèse.

I bolded two of them, for some reasons...

Expensive?  I see two versions, a single disc and a double disc; the double disc also has another several pieces on it and is the more expensive, available new for $20.  That doesn't sound too bad, compared to String Quartet No. 2 coming in at either $35 for the DVD version or $46 for the 5-cd version.
