This might be of interest to some in the UK.
The Music Group on Radio Four asks people to talk about the songs that are important to them. A former soldier talks about the effect hearing Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in the Sky had on him while serving in Afghanistan. I found it fascinating listening: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00scjx4/The_Music_Group_Series_4_Episode_6/ The Floyd part starts about 20 minutes in if you want to skip bloody Snow Patrol. (they do play Captain Beefheart earlier as well though). Edited by Cactus Choir - May 26 2010 at 07:51 |

Thanks, I'm listening right now...
So sad to hear people talking about older or non-mainstream music with that "what the f**k is this?" attitude... But even so the BBC are doing a good thing for classic rock and prog. |

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I didn't realise you could listen to the BBC's iPlayer outside the UK!

That surprised me too. Apparently the broadcasting rights are different for radio to those for video.
