^The only difference between a Bluray and a DVD is the amount of info it can hold - They both come from the same source material (the original recordings) which is better quality than both DVD's and Blurays, but because Blurays can hold more information, the data that is put on a Bluray has to be compressed significantly less, so the picture/sound and reading speed is much, much faster.

I'm guessing the problem is that Bluray's are at least a bit slower to press than standard DVD's, and also that there's hardly any Bluray pressing facilities compared to the amount of DVD presses because it's still a relatively new format.

Not sure why it's taking this long though - I'm guessing the order just got through/the pressing started a few days late, so that the whole thing got out of order. Just a one day difference would add a few days on either end, due to changing shipping and receiving dates, getting new packaging and postage schedules ready, etc...
I'm still just a little annoyed that BS didn't have the Special Editions even on hand when we ordered over a month ago...

Also, about the Insurgentes DVD release:

The DVD version of the Insurgentes film directed by Lasse Hoile is currently scheduled for release on 27th September as a 2 DVD set on KScope, with a whole raft of extras on the second disc, including an audio section with more songs from the album sessions. More news nearer to the release date....

From SWHQ.

Can't wait for that one; the excerpts on the Insurgentes album DVD piqued my interest, gonna be good to see the whole thing.

^Excellent! I've been looking forward to the DVD release of this for a long while. The 20 minute trailer on the Insurgentes DVDA piqued my interest to see the rest of it, too.
Hello, mirror. So glad to see you, my friend. It's been a while...

Steven Wilson's has colaborated with Aussie Drum & Bass/Rockers Pendulum on one track of their new album (released tomorrow):

this is the official trailer - full versions exist on youtube, but they are "unofficial" so I won't link them here.

For all you PT fans that do not own a copy of Recordings (mine is #18153), this was just posted on the PT site:

http://www.porcupinetree.com/

Porcupine Tree's Recordings will be reissued on 6th September on KScope - a straight reissue, there won't be any bonus tracks or remastering.

Kind of dissapointed with the reissue - I'd love to hear it in 5.1, and since I already have the original CD, I don't have any reason to get that one.

I'll be getting this, as I don't own Recordings yet. Happy about this news! Smile

It would have been nice to hear it in 5.1, with maybe some Out Absentia tracks or something as a special bonus, though.

Also, I'd heard Wilson was on the new Pendulum album. They're pretty big, aren't they? That's pretty cool. Any extra exposure for SW's talents is a good thing, in my book!Thumbs Up

Recordings! Clap  That's great.  I've been eager to run across the original for under $100, but I haven't, so this is good news! I would still like to find the original, though...
I heard about the Pendulum collaboration, but who are they?

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about the reissue regardless of any remastering or anything, it's impossible to get without forking over a boatload of cash.

With that being said, I've got to say, this band has really been growing on me, I saw them two weeks ago and loved the show but the weird thing is that I've been listening to them almost exclusively since the show.  If any pays attention to my Last FM numbers, I think Porcupine Tree has shot up over the last few weeks, knocking off a bunch of favorites and barreling down on Genesis.  That's almost sacred ground.

Regardless, every time I listen I hear something new.  I recently pulled "Buying New Soul" off of my "Lightbulb Sun" bonus disc.  Holy crap, how did that song not make it on the regular disc, as I said, I can't wait for "Recordings" to be reissued to get the rest of the out takes.  "Stupid Dream" has really been growing on me as well.  I absolutely love "Even Less", the creepy numbers read at the end are so haunting.

"Prodigal" and "Dot Three" off of "In Absentia" are both fantastic.  The solo at the end of "Prodigal" is worthy of anything that Roine Stolt would pull off and "Dot Three" is just a beautiful laid back piece that builds up beautifully.  "Nil Recurring" is a recent pick up and I think every song on that is great.  In total, I'm just plain loving this band as of late.

Yeah, they truly are an amazing progressive band!  I know Recordings will be another great (re)release from a groundbreaking band.  That's awesome that you've seen them live, as I have yet to.  Hopefully that changes when I go to college...  Nil Recurring is really great and I'd put it up there with their best albums, in my opinion... its beautifully dark and lyrically near-perfect (Nil Recurring is a 5 star track), and the heaviness is never "Dream Theater"-cheesy-heavy... sorry all you DT fans..  It's great to hear other people who really see that this band is one of the greatest prog bands around today, and ever, really..IMO... Keep listening, it will get even better!  : )

Good man. I've been listening to them a lot myself lately. Ever since I saw them in concert, in point of fact. I hear something new every time I give one of their records a spin too. Clap

5 of the 9 songs are however featured in 5.1 on the stupid dream and lightbulb sun reissues

Hehe, I forgot that
I guess the main point of the reissue is just to make it available on a CD to the hundreds of fans who don't have a copy, more than anything. Although some bonuses would've been nice.

The main bonus of Recordings for me will be to finally have it in my collection! Can't help but feel for anyone who's forked out for it though, as it would seem like a huge waste of money to them now! At least they could have felt  a bit better if there were some sort of bonus content added to the new release!

Im curious as to everyone's age here, to see how varied PT's fanbase is. I'm 26 and discovered PT when I was 24.
