You've heard him playing/singing if you've listened to any of the first three Soft Machine albums. His solo stuff is very different, but still good. Rock Bottom is amazing, and so far Cuckooland isn't too bad either. I'm just surprised Robert drums on it since I assumed he was unable to do so after his accident. Another fun fact about the album: David Gilmour plays guitar on a track.

David, how was the show????
Nonexistent. We showed up and it was sold out, and for some reason there weren't any tickets for sale online for this venue. But I figure I'll get another chance to see Mastodon down the road. Plus I'm already going to another concert on Wednesday so I have something else to look forward to.

Nah, he's not that bitter. I've never actually seen one of his infamous "Porcupine Tree" rants, although I have seen him complain about Wilson's lyrics once or twice.
I don't remember posting any "rants", I just complain sometimes. I think my reputation is more for my consistency than my effort in doing so. ;-) I actually posted a few times in the old PT thread before it got nuked. Of course, it's entirely possible I wrote something really angry and I don't remember it because it was at 3am.
I feel sort of meh about Frank Zappa. I don't think I'll be buying another album from him anytime soon.
