Topic: Your ride off into the sunset/night music Posted: March 25 2010 at 00:10
I tie images to music. I'm probably not the only one.
What I think about for this kind of this is hard to explain. Like you're going to hit the dusty trail and go it alone for awhile, free of whatever you're fleeing or done with. Moment of badass.
Like you're the only survivor of a Scream type movie slayage, then you ride off. Credits roll.
Alternatively, this could be "...and the credits roll." music.

Kubrick did it best when he set "We'll Meet Again" against footage nuclear bomb tests at the end of Dr. Stragelove. I like the think that if the world is gonna end it will at least have to have the courtesy to be as classy as that.
I roundhouse kick the last two zombies' heads clean off and silence falls in the dark hall. I pant, I'm covered in dirt and there are guts on my jerkin. The camera surveys me surveying the killin' scene. Corpses litter the ground. My acquaintances are dead. Why did we ever accept the dare to stay the night in an isolated house in the middle of the countryside where, supposedly, the only-just-survivors of the nuclear disaster of '93 had been housed by the government. Dammit John Major! I wipe my sweat away on my ruff. It's all over now in any case. I kick open the (huge!) door of the house which thunders down in front of me raising much dust and drowning the enclosure in sunlite. Shot from the depths of the house: I stand silhouetted in the doorway for several seconds, motionless. The camera switches to my sunlit mug. Cue Sixty Sixty by Faust. As the guitar strumming bit starts, I raise my eyes to the sun with a resigned smile, shrug off my dirty jerkin and step out into the field and start the long walk.. somewhere.
