Well, not if you're hanging out with a bad family.  And most of us don't object to the holiday, but the hype.  The commercials urging us to buy buy buy.  The same old music everywhere you go, year after year after year after year while your buying and buying and buying.

But once you get past all that, what the heck.  Have a good day.

I don't know how many times I have to hear John Lennon sing So this is Christmas, David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing The little Drummer Boy, lounge versions of every Christmas song immaginable. Why don't they play You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch in malls? And every year the picture with Santa f**king Claus goes up. My friend was complaining about that this morning because he has 3 kids. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I'm glad I don't have kids but that doesn't mean that I'm out at least a couple of grand buying presents for relatives and friend's kids. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and crappy music that's only the tip of the iceberg. And then there's the lies.  Nothing but lies.

I' m finished ( I think )  ..... for now because I have to go Christmas shopping with a couple of my buddies and spend $$$$$$$$$. And then we're going to get hammered.

I passed no fewer than five organizations collecting for Christmas charities on my way tro the office this morning, not to mention all the bums with their hats out.  The only guy I gave money to was this bum with a Santa hat with an almost finished 1.18 litre bottle of beer. This was about half an hor ago at 8:30 AM. He was waving it in the air yelling out  It's not for food! It's for alcohol! So I gave him 5 bucks and warned him that if I caught him buying food with it I would be right ticked.

At least the guy was honest and made me laugh.

Not Christmas related but a few years ago we were in Vegas and walking across the street bridge and there was a bum sitting there with hat out and drinking a bright blue cocktail in a martini glass someone had given him.  Stacy gave him a $10. LOL

After watching the festive masterpiece  Bad Santa, i suggest this Christmas classic by Frederick Forsyth, a novella that can be read in one sitting about a young RAF pilot who gets lost on Christmas eve. Years ago we would tune into CBC Radio to hear it being read by Alan Maitland on Christmas eve.

I've recently started to really appreciate A Christmas Carol in all it's different interps, a beautiful story that touches on so many aspects of life.. not a fantasy, a reality

One of my bosses got us a Chinese made replica of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree, which I took home and my wife put a small length of electric colored Christmas lights on and wrapped a little blanket around.  I've never been one of those big into decorating.  It was is a pleasant capper to what has turned out to be a really bad year.

We're heading to the cottage with a couple of friends tomorrow. No City, no people, no goddam computers, no TV just X-country skis, dogs, real coniferous trees, some tunes and a real dead goose. Real dead. I mean real dead. And beer.

Hey, much thanks for that.  And as I tend to be a pessimistic type, I may be pleasantly surprised with next year. LOL
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Though I haven't been around for a while, and probably won't be for some time, I'd like to wish you all a happy Christmas and New Year - especially to those who, like Brian, have been through some hard times in 2009. Now back to cooking tomorrow's dinnerWink!
