I've listened to this record for around two years now, but I am definitely surprised that "John Macaluso & Union Radio" and his debut 2007 record "The Radio Waves Goodbye" isn't in on Progarchives. Macaluso is known for his numerous acts over decades (the acclaimed Norwegian progmetal band Ark, the supergroup Starbreaker, TNT, Yngwie Malmsteen etc).
"The Radio Waves Goodbye" is comprised with various musical incorporations, mainly progressive metal, progressive rock, jazz fusion and art rock. It also features guests known from the prog act, such as James LaBrie, Vitalij Kuprij, Marco Sfogli and many more outside the prog territory. You can visit his site and listen to the 6 tracks out his debut album from the media player. I recommend the tracks "Soul In Your Mind" and "T-34" for their prog-metal orientation and other tracks that are more Jazz-fusion oriented (besides "Pretzel" that is more of a drum solo track). The Third Ear Band ...... Alchemy LP and they also did the sound track for a Playboy magazine production of Macbeth. Saw them in Regents Park w/ Caravan way back. (at least I think it was Regents 1973?)

5bridgeS- the Thomas Tracks is an overlooked album of 09, that really needs all the praise it can get! This blew me away from the first listen. Retro-prog at its best

I suggest fans of Pain of Salvation and Ayreon to check out the album
"Painting on Glass" by The 3rd and the Mortal. It's quite an underrated
album, I'd say. :)

Hi Guys,
I'd like to recommend a fresh release from Musea Records, the wonderful debut CD of a new Hungarian band called TABULA SMARAGDINA. Their album can be described as symphonic prog, lots of mellotrons, hammond and heavy guitar sounds. Very vintage but yet very modern too. They have strong Flower Kings/Platypus/Yes infuences.
It is interesting about this band that it is a project formed by 2 hungarian musicians:
Krivánik Dániel - keyboards, Zsigó László - drums) with Bogáti-Bokor Ákos (leader of Yesterdays) who plays guitars, bass, additional keyboards and sings the leads on the album.
Fans of Yesterdays will love this CD but - IMO symphonic prog lovers will dig this CD too.
The CD has some enhancements for PC-s, photos, lyrics (in Hungarian and English), videos, photos.
It is available from www.musearecords.com
The band has a Myspace page: www.myspace.com/smaragdina and an official website in English: www.smaragdina.hu

...and another thing about this band, Tabula Smaragdina. They have a song published on the Colossus/Musea 4CDbox set called Dante's Purgatorio. I've read on their website that they will take a part in some other Musea/Colossus project CDs in the near future such as Dante's Paradiso and The Tribute to The Flower Kings
