The name has been changed to protect the guilty, and I thought that it was funnier this way.
EXPORT, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police say a man was drunk when he hopped on a lawn tractor and drove it to buy more beer.
Police say 33-year-old Patrick "Padraic" was stopped by a state trooper at about 8 p.m. on Sept. 6.
The trooper says he stopped Patrick near a tavern, and that Patrick smelled of alcohol and appeared to be drunk. Police say Patrick denied drinking, but then acknowledged he "drank a little" before driving the tractor to a bar to buy more beer.
Police say Patrick's blood-alcohol content was about double the state's legal limit for drivers.
Patrick did not immediately return a message left at his house Friday. His preliminary hearing is Dec. 14.

So I have been slacking in my beer consumption this week- things keep coming up.
Now tomorrow, we are having a bunch of people from the church to help us move. As far as I know, these people consider the consumption of alcoholic beverages a sin (something I never understood, since Jesus was a producer of them- see John chapter two).
So now I have twenty beers in my refrigerator. They need to be gone by tomorrow morning because I don't feel like hiding them from a bunch of people (including the pastor).
What to do...what to do...

I was at a tax seminar yesterday which covered the Make Work Pay credit. My thought is that you should Make Work Pay and provide beers to those that help you move. I suspect that they will be quite pleased. And if not, then whatever, their loss.

Can I help you...??? I will need only a pizza and it will be gone in less than an hour... so... I bring in the pizza if you want to...
About your Bible knowledge, yes, I totally agree with you... the first miracle he made was a very terrenal one, multiple the whine, so... I cannot be a sin... the excess, like everything taken to the limits, is the wrong thing about... so... what do you say...???

You have to empty the fridge, so put the beer and everything in bags or such that don't interest any other person coming to help. Or drink it all tonight, that wouldn't be weird in your case. And really, pull the "Frankly, I don't give a ..." on this anti-alcohol nonsense. My best friend is such of a baptist, and we don't have problems (except he does remind me sometimes that getting even slightly dizzy from it is a sin hahaha). I mostly come with the argument that I like wine, and wine is pretty naturally produced - beer too, I know. So they should either start a crucade on producing beer and wine (& others) being a tool of the Devil (no, really, don't...), or STFU. I also came at one point with a counter-biblical argument, related to the expression of Jesus' blood as wine. At which my friend said there's evidence in the Scriptures that that Last Supper wine was actually 60% water and only a bit alcohol. ...huh? What do you think about this, Rob? Half of my class or my school was also full of baptists - well, here, some folks were less illuminated as to leave me be.

I think it is silly to think drinking alcohol is a sin. It would be silly of me to drink it right now with a splitting migraine though.

| Check out John 2...after Jesus turned water into wine, the host called the bridegroom aside and said,
"Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine
after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the
best till now." The implication here is that Jesus made his wine after the guests were already drunk.
Lots of "scholars" will tell you that the wine was really grape juice or had a very low concentration of alcohol. I'm sorry, but one cannot get drunk on mere grape juice- the wine of the Bible was clearly fermented. How much alcohol it contained is certainly a matter of debate.
This does not mean that the Bible advocates drunkenness (surely not- getting drunk at a wedding celebration is not precisely the same thing as "drunkenness," which I believe is a habitual state).
Proverbs 23 says:
29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? 30 Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. 31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! 32 In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. 33 Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things. 34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging. 35 "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt! They beat me, but I don't feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?"
Jewish writings state that there can be no celebration without wine- hence, Jesus's first miracle is a most appropriate one- Christianity is depicted in the Bible as a marriage between Christ and his church, so there would need to be wine to celebrate. At the last supper, Jesus was described his blood as the wine- a perfect metaphor in keeping with the marriage analogy: In biblical times, when a man wanted to propose to a woman (after arrangements with the father had been made), he would offer a glass of wine to the woman. She could refuse it, meaning she was rejecting the suitor, she could take a sip, which indicated she would consider him, or she could drink all of it, meaning she was devoting herself to that man. Jesus offered his disciples the cup and instructed them accordingly:
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; (Matthew 26:27) In other words, devote yourself wholly and completely to Christ forever. Hope this helps.

It makes sense that they would have drank alcoholic beverages before refrigeration and/or pasteurization had been discovered , wouldn't the alcohol prevent it from spoiling?

I won't quote to aboid the huge pyramid, but I have to say thank you, I cannot do that in English, but it's exactly why I think and most of the Catholic's... very graphical and documented definition Epignosis... good one... and add that wine is one of those strange and unique pleasures of the life...

I guess being in Pennsylvania it could have been a horse and buggy. 32, 33, newspapers are never very good at checking facts before printing. It was a guess, but now I remember you did say that you were born in 1977 in the year that prog died thread.
