Well...today wound up getting better all of a sudden.

Money can do that, you know.  Big smile

Hopefully I didn't just jinx it...it isn't in my hand yet!  Confused

Who is your colleague?  Walter?

It's pre-89. (second half of the XXth century, so)

And sorry, I meant colleagues. Plural.

No, we're talking people simply irritated by the unprettyness of avant-garde. They find it noise, they find it mess, they find it non-music.

The class is sadly compulsory, so it's me finding it interesting among 50 saying "this is stupid; let's do something else; why can't we listen to Mozart" (but that's hypocrisy, they don't like listening to Mozart either. They don't like anything!!). Sometimes they even come with judgements "oh, I think this is terrible composing", like they're experts on the subjects.

Actually, today was a mix of metabyzantine music and choral regular one. They liked the choral (but they're mostly singers themselves, so duh! yawning or complaining to other types of music ftw), but when music actually stepped out of the lines, and didn't have melodies you could hum, this is an outrage!

But as I've said: I'm the only one interested. The rest just wants the two hours nightmare to end quicker. Or they sabotage it, either complaining, either starting to talk carelessly, so that you can hardly hear the music anymore.

--

This can sound like "nobody likes it, except me. why? :(((", but it's actually "nobody gives a sh*t, except me."

OMG MUSIC THAT DOESNT SOUND LIKE WHAT I ALREADY HAVE HEARD, THAT IS CRAP AMIRITE?

I hate it when people disregard something simply because it isn't immediately identifiable. It sounds like they need the Cow treatment.

They'd never get past joking about the band's name.

Don't tell them what it's called, just play songs like Beginning - The Long March and Morning Star.

I can answer that.

Neutral Milk Hotel - Aeroplane Over The Sea or something like that

Haven't got to listen to it yet, but it better be damn good, given the praise.

So like my head started spinning when I read that Zess' speech would be a transcript of a Hitler speech.

Mainly because I like that part very much.

So is it stupid of me to still get upset when people complain about my music?  I'm sitting here listening to Can's "Ege Bamyasi" and the kid from across the hall yells to his friend "There's always music coming from that room...too bad it's not good music!"  and then as he's leaving, peeks his head back out from the stairwell and says "Too bad it's not music at all!"  Especially annoying since all he listens to is the newest gangsta rap, Miley Cyrus and other "music" which just fits the mold of the current "boring, repetitive, uncreative" wave. Angry

Blast some Epignosis.

Then insist that it was Eminem's first record before he hit it big in the rap circuit.  Even make up a fake Wikipedia article about it.

It can be frustrating, but that's just the way it is.

There was once a girl who complained about my music, saying she just hated the way synthesizers sound, and couldn't understand why someone would make a song 20 minutes long, etc.

She's the mother of my children.  Wink

Fight people. If you win, it proves your music taste is better.
