    Being in Middle School, getting mad about stupid events is a must.
    Today, a stupid event occurred that I feel angry about. Today, the performers for the school talent show were given the results for their auditions. Most of the lackluster singers and dancers made it into the talent show instead of musicians.
     Usually, I wouldn't care about this but I believe a major disservice had been done. Our schools virtuoso pianist didn't make it. This is the kid that practices hours a day and is recognized by many as the most talented musician the region has to offer. Naturally, he was devastated. The most skilled performer was usurped by the most imbecilic of opponents.

    Now here is where the questions come in. First off, do you think this is fair? Secondly, do you believe that singing and dancing are overrated or underrated in music in comparison to instruments?

Once again, I know this isn't a very important event in itself, but I believe that recognition of talent shouldn't be denied as it has been increasingly and increasingly in modern times.

I am baffled by the idea that a classical pianist wannabe would want to participate in such an event. There are other competitions which are created exactly for young classical musicians.

I guess he wants to be recognized by a more mainstream audience, not that I would want the same.
And yes, I am in Middle school.

Oh yeah, I just remembered something related to that. He does do other competitions relating to Piano. I guess he was rated the eight best young pianist in Ohio a year or two ago and I he's a pretty sensitive guy so getting upset would probably be a natural reaction for him.

I don't think it's an issue of fair or not fair. People's opinions about what they prefer can't be unfair. Some people like music to showcase certain things like dancing. It's not my thing, but it should be expected probably given the nature of the competition.

It certainly has its place though. When I go out to a bar I'd much rather see girls dancing to "Don't Stop the Music" than "On the Beautiful Blue Danube".

My high school/middle school that I went to has a talent show every year. Mostly it is people  dancing and singing, and most likely lip syncing. It is sad.

Talent = what entertains people.

Anyone who practices hours a day to play the piano will understand they will most likely never be appreciated.

Watch America's Got Talent and see the cross-dressing balloon animal-making yodeler beat the brilliant pianist.

Every time.
