Lee and Utley basically won the game themselves. I feel much better with game one under our belts, but I doubt tomorrow will go as smoothly.
Speaking of tomorrow The Dear Hunter is coming tomorrow night. So instead of being excited for seeing one of my favorite bands I'm feeling very annoyed and praying for a rain delay. Casey will hear an earful from me before the show.

Yeah, but the Yanks didn't play too spectacularly overall either. Baseball varies wildly day to day, hoping game 2 goes better!

The Phils can't win again, can't let Philly have another championship for at least 50 years or so

Just because you're still bitter at Sid Bream doesn't mean you have to take it out on us.

Missed virtually all the game. Yanks played well? And Burnett has been money this year, great pitcher.
Glad the Yanks managed the win. If they went down 0 - 2...well not much needed to say

Yea, yanks played well. Burnett only walker 2 batters, 1 intentionally, and struck out 9 I believe (struck out Howard 3 times :D) There were a couple bad calls by the umps....again.......Hope this doesn't become an issue in the WS as it has been throughout the playoffs.

Yeah, the officiating through the playoffs has honestly been terrible. Hopefully any bad calls won't impact the outcome really.

Was a kid when that happened and I can't blame Sid Bream, would have to blame the armless Barry Bonds, who somehow won gold glove after gold glove without being able to throw a cripple out from shallow left. Anyway, I'm a Yankees fan anyway, the Buccos can go &*%$ themselves as far as I'm concerned, can't cheer for a team that could care less about what they put out on the field for their fans.

Well now manofmystery a friend of mine whos a Pirates fan said they have a new manager....and he says he "has a plan" Granted it hasn't worked this year, but.....next year maybe? He also told me the reason they trade any good player they get is they don't have the money to keep them. I don't know if thats true or not...especially since they trade these player for no reason and without them asking for more $

That was pre-roided Barry. I still remember that game.

There were calls in both teams favor I know, but the Ump was brutal on our left handed hitters with that outside corner. Some of those strikes were practical jokes.
Great game by A.J. though. He didn't have a blow up inning like I expected unfortunately for me.

Really, the rest of the series is going to hinge on whether or not the Phils can get to the Yankee starters, and deal with the middle relievers so that Rivera doesn't get a chance, ala game 1.
Now the big question: Lee in game 4? I think we pretty much have to, though Manuel indicates it depends on Saturday's result.

I don't see how you don't go to him. From the literature I've read throwing on 3 days rest really isn't damaging to a pitcher, and even so, what are we saving him for?
I don't want a struggling Happ and mediocre to above average Blanton going up against a much above average Yankee lineup.

Now I just saw on an ESPN crawl that Blanton starts 4 and Lee starts 5.

Said it before, saying it again: A-Rod must get hit more than any player out there....
Yanks off to a hot start. Let's hope it continues, and they can go up 3-1.
GO YANKS!

So close now, dare I say I'm starting to taste my triple crown (all three of my teams holding championships at the same time)
