![]() I've still never heard a store charging anything >100 for a special edition CD release in Australia though... |

^me neither, here in Argentina. Heck, not sure how much I saw Black Clouds special edition here in a popular music store, though I'm sure it wasn't even close to even $200(pesos)
Though, I have seen some $100 albums which were imported things like Tangerine Dream, 80's Tull, and others.. |

I think that that was how much DT was selling it for on their website. It came with a whole bunch of bells and whistles if I am not mistaken.

Ah, same...
There's a store in my state which sells Japanese mini LP's of old Yes albums for 80 USD. |

As far as I'm concerned I've never seen those famed Japanese mini-LP's physically yet.... though I know they're expensive as hell.... |

Ahhhh......so that's it! Now I see, I thought it was just the 3 CD edition... I find the price pretty reasonable now, though I still stand that I would *almost* never buy something like that.(possible exceptions would be, I dunno, something like that by Pink Floyd, Yes, Deep Purple or the like) |

Mind you, that I would never buy such a special edition for a album that I haven't heard.

^ My friend (who idol worships them) pretty much conned me into it... it really was only $150 for each of us... and it would have been very fulfilling had the album been fantastic.
Oh well, it'll probably be worth a pretty penny one day... |

Unexpect and Big Elf. Unexpect were kind of prog death metal, with some folky leanings courtesy of a violinist. Quite a starnge mix of styles. Their sound wasn't too good, so it was hard to pick out some of the musics complexities, but they were 'interesting' shall we say. Big Elf (think I've heard of them)had a hard rock and slight blues element, with plenty of hammond and some mellotron. They sounded very good. Did Dweezil Zappa guest on the US leg of this tour?? |

I saw Dream Theater at the Manchester Apollo on Friday night - DT were amazing, especially the encore - The Count of Tuscany, excellent in the extreme.
The Opeth bit was excellent and it was amusing to see the dick heads in the mosh-pit fighting in a kind of death-metal rugby scrum - just what is that all about !!!!
Big Elf were also worth listening to - the opening band were terrible !!!!!

^ I was at this gig too (hi Rob!) and he is right, DT absolutely smoked - fantastic performance, wonderful sound mix too. Easily the best I've seen from the band live.
Unlike Rob, I wasn't in the mosh pit
![]() To hear Sacrificed Sons, a real favourite of mine, was awesome. The new stuff rocked big time and Petrucci's work during Count Of Tuscany was sublime. What a surprise to hear Dance Of Eternity too
![]() Before the gig I had never heard a note of Opeth. I was very impressed indeed, and that's another band to go on the "to get" list. I preferred the singing to the growling though..........
