Celebrating 40 years since their first TV show Monty Python's Flying Circus still remains very influential and topical, it was well documented that Genesis, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd invested in the Holy Grail movie which was a huge success.
 
The Ministry of Silly Walks and Fish slapping sketches never fail to roll me up, what s your favourite Python sketch?Big smile

The fish slapping dance is an absolute classic, but as far as trying to pick a favorite... their first ever sketch in the first ever show (I believe ) - flying sheep:

"Notice how they do not so much fly... as plummet"

a personal favorite is the bicycle race with famous painters--  "It's Braque. Georges Braque, the Cubist, painting a bird in flight over a cornfield and going very fast down the hill towards Kingston and...Piet Mondrian - just behind, Piet Mondrian the Neo-Plasticist, a gap, then the main bunch, here they come, Chagall, Max Ernst, Miro, Dufy, Ben Nicholson, Jackson Pollock and Bernard Buffet making a break on the outside here..!"

also the Mouse Problem, and the one when the horrible guests come over.. really too many to count

Fish slapping, Upper class twit of the year, Bicycle repair man, rival documentaries, Pantomime horse is James Bond, Silly job interview, Confuse-a-cat, Pearl Harbour, Semaphore version of Wuthering Heights, the Gumby brain surgery... I could go on for a while LOL

A few years ago i had the chance to see the original episodes for the first time (some 45 i believe,between 1969 and 1973, someone please correct me if im wrong),
 
I must admit i found it more silly than funny with few real laughs( i am more a fan of "The Goodies").Having said that i have always liked the "Oscar Wilde" sketch.

After the brilliance of the first three seasons the first two episodes of the fourth were embarrassingly unfunny. I haven't watched it further yet, it was so bad. Does it get better?

I always enjoy the sketch of the mice's orgy. The "sub rosa" in it is devastating.

Yes!! That whole episode was particularly brillant. (Ditto for Royal Episode 13)
 
Also like the Mr. hilter sketch, the cycling tour, the golden age of ballooning, chemist sketch, buy a bed sketch, ministry of silly walks, the cheese shop...etc Big smile
