Do you have all of the Flower Kings albums, or are you just undecided on the epics? |

I have them all - in process of ripping them to MP3, then I can make MP3 compilations and I really need to familarize myself with all the epics before I can compare and contrast. Mind you Stardust we Are and Monsters and Men are almost certainly 1 & 2 - so it's a battle for the European qualification slots I have yet to decide on

Hi all.
I've not posted on here for about 3 or 4 days, and it appears I've missed World War III
![]() Rob, the way you listen to the music is just the way I do - 'phones on, drift away, and no chance of annoying the wife or the neighbours with your chord progressions or moog solos too. Tom, nice pic there buddy, lovely family. You're also very lucky to have a wife that likes prog. I'm sure I can find some photos of myself and my wife, but as for having the technological know how to put in on here - forget it ![]() ![]() |

Hey Roj, You missed a brief but interesting one there. Thanks for the kind words on the family. As weird as this may sound, I don't think I'd have married her if she didn't appreciate music. When we first got together back in 96, I wasn't really into a lot of progressive myself. There was still a steady diet of Genesis and Peter Gabriel, but that was it for progressive rock. I was listening to what was being called 'Alternative' back then (Dave Matthews, Goo Goo Dolls, Live) or electronica. Ended up going towards electronica for the next few years until 2007 when I made the jump back into progressive rock. To her credit, she allowed me to drag her along through the various genre's over the years and has picked out things that she likes from each genre. Her prog loves include Genesis, The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, Sylvan, It Bites, IQ and now Phideaux and yeah, she totally enjoyed both of the Three River's Prog fests. ![]() |

Oh and I forgot to mention this. I'm going to NYC to see a play on Broadway, and I'm leaving this morning and will be gone for probably 2 days. Let me know what goes on in the Flower Kings World!

Oh cool, have a good trip Jeff, that should be a fun time, I've never actually seen a Broadway play, though I hope to at some point. Enjoy,

I completed ripping the 10 FK studion CD's to MP3 (bitrate 320 kb/sec)
Thus 10 directories and 154 tracks totalling 2.29GB
I have just completed an MP3 epics (then faves at the end) compilation which goes onto one CD.
1. Stardust we are.
2. Monsters and Men
3-20. Garden of dreams
21. I am the sun Part 1
22 I am the sun Part 2
23. Love Supreme
24. Love is the only answer
25. Devils playground
26. Drivers seat
27. The truth will set you free
28. World of adventures
29. Retropolis
30. Compassion
31. Road to sanctuary
32. Flora Majora
JUST OVER FIVE HOURS of quality , can use this to compare & contrast the epics.
Just listened to the first two - and I can't really say which one is best - both Genius and both would get into my top 10 all time prog tracks..........

![]() I'm a big admirer of Man Utd and love watching them play. To me they are the team that Spurs aspire to be. Well, you do have a habit of nicking our best players ![]() I think it'll be 4 n a row for you this season and would love to see Spurs in the top 6. I also hope that Rooney has a fabulous season, topped off with a World Cup winners medal. I also hope that Micheal Owen is able to respond to (what I see as) an amazing gesture by Alex Ferguson to get him back to his old best and back at the front of the England team next June where he belongs. Anyway, back to The Flower Kings....... .......I wonder who Roine supports ![]() By the way, do you know those girls in your avatar? I think they are rather gorgeous - all 4 of them ![]() Lastly, here are my top 5 TFK epics: 1) I Am The Sun 2) The Truth Will Set You Free 3) Monsters & Men 4) Garden of Dreams 5) Devil's Playground Edited by Nov - August 18 2009 at 19:03 |

Now THAT'S what I call a cd ![]() That's a perfect cd to play in the car when driving the family down to, say, Cornwall on holiday - I'm sure the missus would love it ![]() Incidentally, who nicked my avatar? I'm now Mr Question.

Nov, much as I'd like to see it happen, I fear the worst for us this season. Honestly, at this point I'd take third. I hope you're right though. Incidentally, if you continue to play like against L'pool, the top 6 for Spurs is definitely possible. Incidentally, Barney and I had season tickets together at Old Trafford for many years, until it just got too expensive. Well we had prog collections to add to, so something had to give

The Girl on the right is Miss Stardust Weah and the one on the leff is Miss Monster Anne Menn
![]() You don't rate Stardust we are? That track and Monsters and men are too close to call for number 1 track by TFK, for me I am the sun is spoilt by that daft bit in part 1, ditch that and it would be in serious contention for a champions league place...............

I'd much rather you win it than Chelsea or Arse'.
Mind you, it was frightening how they demolished Everton at the weekend.
I hope you're right. You know what Spurs are like though. The perennial under-achievers
![]()
Ah I see.......Man Utd or TFK? That's an easy choice for me

I absolutey adore it....just not quite as much as those others though
![]() It's easily at number 6 though. I also really love "Humanizzimo" from The Flower King album.
It's only a few seconds
![]() I'd have "I Am The Sun" at number 1 for part 2 alone. It's probably my single favourite piece of music from the last 15 years or so

I totally agree Nov. For me, I Am The Sun is simply a magical musical journey through all the emotions. It simply has everything. It's a rollercoaster ride of goosebump-laden musical majesty. The ambient section at the end of Part 1 and the conclusion of Part 2 almost always bring me to tears, such is the beauty of those pieces. As a whole (1 and 2 together) it's my favourite TFK piece, and in all honesty probably my favourite by anybody, ever. And, great news, I got my avatar back

Roj,
I think you and I see pretty much eye to eye on "I am the Sun". I equate the song with my mental transition from rock and roller to father so yeah, it's kind of a personal song for me. Barney, I assume that by the 'daft bit' that you mean the 'I lost my heart in San Francisco' bit. That one took me a while to appreciate, it's odd and quirky, but I think it works well if you look at the whole song as a progression in life. The 'daft bit' signifies the confusion that you can go through when going througha major life changing event. I've always thought part one was a little more arrogant and angry whereas part two sounded more humble and joyous. The San Francisco is just the transition. I could be totally off base, but that's just how I interpret the bit and the piece in general. |
