E-dub,  Where did you get the info  about the DVD of this year's convention and do you know if it will be of Europe or NA?   Also a projected release date?                   kenmar

Nothing has "officially" been announced yet. Lucy Jordache has made mention that it'll be out by the holidays.

Initially, it was just going to be the European convention that was filmed for the DVD due to the costs of filming in Montreal; however, they were able to find a company who would do it within budget. As far as how it's going to be packaged and sold, I haven't a clue. I'm hoping they do a Wish You Were Here type deal and box them all together. I'll definitely get both. They used a ton more cameras for the European shows, so the production will be superior.

That's about all I know...which isn't much, I'm afraid.

I lived in Oswestry when they did Live at Welsh Walls, which you can still get from the band's site I believe. This was totally acoustic, and was done at a local restaurant as a thank you to the town after the recording of Radiation. I remember getting a preview of the album at the studio, and chatting to H & Rothery in both Welsh Walls and The Boars Head, a local madhouse of a pub. Happy memories of a great time. I think the acoustic stuff on record will be a fantastic experience.

I've got that disc. I'm not big on covers, but I love their version of "Abraham, Martin & John". The entire disc is amazing.

Do you have their A Piss Up In A Brewery DVD from the Bass Brewery? Fun little gig.

The whole show was tremendous, and the CD is well worth getting. I especially enjoy Blackbird, and, like you, I'm not keen on covers.

I haven't got the Piss Up DVD, although I've heard good reviews. Maybe when I've got a little more moneyWink

I think the Piss Up DVD has been retired to the land of the Out Of Prints, unfortunately. It was filmed as a live simulcast for the internet and turned into a DVD. No dramatic shots or angles, but a great performance.

I especially love the version of "Beyond You" on the Unplugged At The Walls CD. Worth getting, given the fact they're doing an acoustic album next.

Just wanted to say that my changing the name had nothing to do with this. I've actually been tempted to change the title of the thread for a few days, so the fact that the change came the day after this is purely coincidental.

Was never mad. Just didn't understand the joke. Now I do. Big smile

I like the new name!

Now back to Marillion...

Has anyone head this track, and if so, where can I hear it?

I was going to call it Round Table of The Anoraks; however, given that disc is about 9 years old I found it to be outdated.

This version was on a special WebUK disc from about 5 years ago. It was also on a couple of the FRC discs from the band's Christmas tour 2005 (I believe) when the band would close out the show with it. There's also a version of "Let It Snow" that's pretty funny.

Actually, the WebUK may be worth your while, Joel. I think it's an annual fee of $20 (U.S.) and the magazines are packed full of information and interviews. They will touch upon everything from interviews with Mike Hunter and Dave Meegan, to dissecting past albums and forecast new ones.

Around the holidays they send each member a CD. Last years wasn't the best (outtakes from the Happiness sessions), but past years have been performances from a festival in Poland, the Los Trios show for XM radio around the time of Marbles, in studio rehearsals for the BBC show The Bob Harris Show (which I think is also part of the bonus features on Somewhere In London).

Thanks Eric!

I've been considering signing up for The Web newsletter, but wasn't sure if they mailed to Australia...

Amazing news, aswell!
So last friday, I ordered my copy of Somewhere In London... And it arrived today - Wednesday in Australia!

Thats easily the fastest international shipping I've ever had!

I haven't had a chance to watch it so far (We've had a death in the family so its been a bit of a madhouse) but I probably will over the next week or two.

Regarding The WebUK: I'm sure they ship anywhere. Well worth it, IMO.

Glad it made it there, Joel. Let us know what you think. Probably their best DVD so far.

I know you mean about the shipping. I ordered The Wishing Tree and was in my hot little hands in about 5 days.

Afternoon Knights!

Just watched the entire Somewhere In London DVD - Easily one of the best live DVD's I've ever seen

What Eric said was right - It did blow my mind... I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching a DVD as much as I did this one, and everything about it was perfect.

The actual DVD was perfect, and then the Live session in the Racket Club topped it off, with Ocean Cloud! Its so hard to believe they could do it live

All in all, worth every penny!

Joel, their DVD's are increasingly becoming better and better. It's just my opinion, but with the internet enabling them to really reach a global audience, it's making it easier to produce a superior product these days. If you watch their first few DVD's (Shot In The Dark, Christmas In The Chapel) there are a fraction of the cameras. Now, however, you get more dramatic angles and the sound quality is much better.

Glad you liked this. Marbles On The Road is amazing, too. Both top shelf.

Evening folks

I'm currently on holiday, and I found a copy of Marillion's "RADIATION" at a decent price (Its very rare to find any Marillion CD's in Australia outside of eBay), and I was wondering, is it worth grabbing this one?

Its their lowest rated on PA, so I''m not sure if I should make this my next Marillion album...

Thanks!

Joel, it's quite the departure, but I enjoy it. Where This Strange Engine was a bit more acoustic, this is a lot more electric with an alternative edge. It's a lower tier Marillion disc, but I feel it's worth getting. Hogarth's vocals on "These Chains" are mesmerizing.

I'd say go ahead and get it.
