I am a guy who dislikes the adjective "progger".

If it's an adjective...

Anyways, I find myself generally interested in music that seems to fall under that label though and I figured tonight to search google for forums where I could find people with like minded musical tastes.
And here I am. Smile

I like a very wide variety of music. It's easier to list what I don't like. Those would be rap, hip-hop, techno, trance, disco, excessive metal and much of pop music.
The latter I don't exactly disdain (Other than principally) but rather I'm simply bored of it.

I am usually fixed on certain artists - albums  - even songs though. I listen to them A Lot, once I've gotten into them. So, right now, I can quite surely state that my favorite bands are all prog bands. Genesis, Camel, Gentle Giant (most strongly GG at the moment) and recently started getting into Dream Theater, though I dislike the heavier bits. And of course... Henry Cow. Henry Cow.
I did a search here and I didn't find them. Could that be possible?
Then I shall have to do 10 threads on them myself. LOL

Anyways, I hope for some interesting exchanges in this forum. Wink

Weird, I was listening to Henry Cow today, as well as Etron Fou Leloublan. If you are already into RIO there isn't much to suggest that you listen to, except, ........maybe......... krautrock?

Anyways, welcome. I fixated on GG for too long and have been giving them a well deserved brake, although I might give In a Glass House a listen soon.

You're like... me. I hate rap, hip-hop, techo and all that dance sh*t, pop bores me most of the times, you have the same list I have (in the full list we may have some bands that I or you don't listen to), and I also like Dream Theater, but not the heavier bits like Erotomania! Best friend! lol.

Welcome aboard...

No, actually there is a LOT of what you could suggest for me to listen. I am not as knowledgeable as the fact that I like Henry Cow would state. I'm very familiar with only a few abnds. I do not know Etron Fou Leloublan for example.

SaltyJon - I don't know Zeuh.

Glad to hear we share tastes Blowin Free.

And thanks for all the kind welcomes.

Zeuhl is another genre which most listeners seem to find hard to get into.  The PA genre page gives much better info than I can, plus song samples, so I'd recommend checking it out.  The bands I'd say are most representative of the genre are Magma, as they're the indisputable creators and masterminds of the genre, then for the Japanese Zeuhl scene, Ruins and Koenjihyakkei are the two I'm most familiar with.

As far as Person's krautrock recommendation, I'll have to second it as well.  Bands like Can and Amon Duul II are some of my favorites.
