Before I begin - sorry this isn't much of a review - having "lost" the WOMAD day carpark on the way out we walked for a hour before finding a) the correct carpark and b) my car - I am now officially very tired and can't remember all the fine details from last night's performance...

Anyway - it was GREAT! This was our first visit to a WOMAD festival and it probably won't be our last.

What I remember of the set list in no particular order - Boy In A Bubble, The Book of Love, Darkness, Steam, Big Time, Red Rain, Solsbury Hill, San Jacinto, Come Talk To Me, No Self Control, Games Without Frontiers, Downside Up and Biko (encore)

...yep opened with two cover songs from the "Scratch My Back" project - first from Paul Simon and the the second from Magnetic Fields.

To put things into perspective, this is a close as we could get to the stage for Gabriel's performance:

So for my little compact digital camera it was a tall order to get any decent shots of the stage, let alone of any of the band, never-the-less, a few came out "passable":
The band:

Mr Levin during Red Rain:

Peter singing Biko:
What?

Oh how I envy you. Nice pictures. I'd love to see Peter in concert soon. It has been too long for me.

First visit to WOMAD for us as well. We spent an hour finding the car park and the car. Perhaps we were wandering in the same groups of people. Note for next time - I must remember to take a torch. Great day though, we managed to get quite close to the front for PG.

^ Possibly - if there was a miserable old git in a leather hat near you having a paddy because he understanding how they could possibly be lost with his innate sense of direction - that was me Embarrassed

...I know where we went wrong, but pride and hubris prevented me from doubling back. LOL
What?

I think we just got into the 'trudging along hoping to find something we recognised' state of mind. When we eventually found the car, we had to leave a man who was still looking for his Citroen AX I'm not sure if he was pleased for us or upset that he now had to wander on his own.

Sounds like great event!

I am not any kind of expert on world music, but I have considered Peter's Womad label a sign of fine quality in this music genre.

Are those two songs confirmed for the Scratch my back album? I thought he recorded The book of love cover a long time ago.

In the end the love you take is equal to the love you made...
