Topic: Best Grunge Band Posted: July 22 2009 at 13:32 |
- Soundgarden
- Alice in Chains
- Pearl Jam
- Nirvana
Though they're all awesome. It's just that Nirvana is a bit too much punk for my taste

Pearl Jam, Vs. is a great album, Rats is an amazing song. Nirvana has made some nice songs, but most stuff doesn't really interest me, same thing wih Alice in Chains.

"VS" was such a dissapointment to me. "Ten" is much better in my opinion. Alice in Chains has made alot more than just some interesting songs. All 3 studio albums are awesome, especially "Dirt"! I love Laynes whiny, raspy vocals. Soundgarden is the most interesting of them all. Detuned Sabbath/Zeppelin-sounding riffs, odd time signatures and Cornells awesome vocals!
GRUNGE RULES!

That and Soundgarden's drummer made the list of the top 50 (or was it 100) progressive rock drummers in Drummers magazine last year. I forget the details, but I remember the discussion and the thread.

Except when he has a hit with the hiphop guy timbaland with lyrics like "That B**ch ain't no part of me".

Exactly this, though the meaning of Nirvana being last means that I can't stand them. Pearl Jam "grunge days" have left quite for a while, yet they deliver some great hard rock with albums like Binaural and Yield. Of course, Ten still stands as their best IMO.

tie between soundgarden and pearl jam. 'Ten' and 'superunknown' are both masterpieces, so i can't make up my mind. However, Dave Grohl on drums is a winner.
