I feel that the voice of Peter Hammill is wonderful. And, it had been felt that the voice of hammill looked like Rob Halford a little.

Peter Nicholls has always been my favourite singer, and he's English too, and from Manchester.  So that's about as local as you can get for me!!

Good to know I'm not the only one with this opinion Big smile  I agree 100%.

I've always highly rated Neals singing and writing.

He does have a very good voice. It's just his lyrics since leaving SB that bug me. Ouch

My native language is Dutch, and my favourite singer who sings in Dutch would be Boudewijn de Groot. He's like the Dutch Bob Dylan, only with more ballads and more melodious and folky, and he didn't write his own lyrics: he had a lyrics writer who was extraordinary as well (Lennaert Nijgh).

No doubt all the Dutch speaking PA members know him. If you, as a non - Dutch speaking person, would like to hear him, and actually know what he's singing, you could click on:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgUcRU3kUWc&feature=related , where the lyrics are being translated in English. The link is for "Welterusten, meneer de president" (Goodnight mr. president), a protest song against Lyndon B. Johnson. Boudewijn de Groot wrote his best stuff in the late sixties / early seventies, but he's still musically active.

By the way, just to clarify, I realize that Gildenlow is Swedish, but he sings in English, so my choice still makes sense.

I just mean he is truley himself in his music and vocals.   I find this admirable but at the end of the day he is not my favorite vocalist.  He just deserves respect for that I think.  Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge is one of my favorites also.

I mean, don't mistake me, PT is one of my all-time favorite modern Prog acts, but Wilson's voice, while perfectly capable, lacks that special something that makes a lead vocalist a true 'lead' vocalist, if you get what I'm saying.

In comparison, Jon Anderson sings like he speaks, and I think he has one of the greatest singing voices of all time,
