Referencing this thread.

Yes, it is funny.  And I have as much of a sense of humor as the next guy, maybe more so.
And the poster is definitely a buffoon.

But isn't it bad form, other than to remove objectionable material, to edit a user's post?
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

^ Usually we only edit posts to remove dubious links - especially those to blogs and other forms of illegal downloads.
What?

At least it shows that an admin edited it.  It is funny, but, and I'm sure the admins would follow this usually, but really it should be clearly indicated where the words are not the posters' own.  I think this is a rare deviation from their usual policy.  I do think it improved the post, however.  At another site I was a complusive editor of other people's posts whenever I saw a spelling mistake, or very bad grammar (didn't automatically show that I'd edited their posts), but if I removed or changed content then I would note it.  e.g. Edited by Logan for abusive comments.

Man, that could be a full time job in itself.  Smile

It was a much slower board than this one, and I had much too much free time on my hands -- as opposed to now where I make much too much free time, but should be doing other things.

Further to Dean's post, we edit posts which are saveable in preference to deleting them all together.

Rest assured though, it is only done rarely, we really do have better things to do.
